A play role of a moral dilemma-
" The Sinking Ship"
details of scenario:

The ship is sinking and the seas are rough. All but one lifeboat has been destroyed. The lifeboat holds a maximum of six people. There are ten people that want to board the lifeboat. The four individuals who do not board the boat will certainly die. Woman who thinks she is six weeks pregnant, Lifeguard,Two young adults who recently married,Senior citizen who has fifteen grandchildren,Elementary school teacher,Thirteen year old twins,Veteran nurse,Captain of the ship.

Students are presents to this scenario , divided into the roles above. One student or a group of students should be chosen as the judge /s.

1.this activity should encourage students to self express themselves , convince , make relevant arguments and debate others.
As this scenario involves making a concrete , immediate decisions , students are more likely to be engaged and positively "pressured" to take part as one of the roles.

2.The teacher could enhance the the ambiance of real life situation by setting up the class as if they are at sea/ creating a fake boat or using other sensual tools.

3. student should practice and learn agreeing and disagreeing expression, using relevant arguments, tone and body language to support them in convincing.
4. this activity could be part of English lessons, or any educational or social interaction lessons. It could be part of preparation for a debate contest or speech performances.. or part of an oral activity to improve self expression in English classes.

5. I chose this activity firstly because it can involve and give voice to each one of the students ( roles can be added). Secondly, because I believe the students enjoy and are motivated by dramatic, concrete situations , thus will be easier engaged .

Debating about Mr. Know All’s Decision 1.Goals of the activity: this activity should encourage students to express their thoughts about literary character, to convince , make relevant arguments and debate others 2.Equipment: Story by S. Maugham, “Mr. Know All” a piece of paper. 3 Debating proficiencies exercised/taught in the activity: building a clash and arguments regarding the main character’s decision on his bet with Mr. Ramsey, his values, the implications of the bet. The group of students is divided in 2 teams of 3 students in each. One team is supposed to defend his decision to present Mrs. Ramsey’s pearls as fake, another team is supposed to oppose his decision, both teams should create and present their clashes and arguments 4.Syllabus topic is placed in one of the options of Post-Reading activities, in the setting of teaching English- Literature Program (Log) 5.It will tie into the rest of my literature curriculum, encouraging students to think the story, and enhancing students’ speaking. 6. I chose this activity since the story conflict might encourage debating.

Activity: Reading and watching news articles about bullying. Most parents were not aware of their children's ordeals and most of them say that they should have checked their children's Facebook / WhatsApp accounts.
This is a clear violation of the right to privacy and in these cases is clearly controversial.
Students will divide into 2 groups - PROs and CONs.
Each student reads his/her argument. Another student volunteers to rebut and add his/her own argument.
1. Goals: to think deeper into the concept, to research all aspects of this right.
2. No special equipment necessary.
3. Debating proficiency: Deciding on a clash + writing an argument
4. Syllabus topic: A simple debate activity in the 8th grade following a project on Human Rights.
5. Tying into the curriculum: it doesn't really. It's a topic that was spontaneously raised in class and evolved into a serious project.
6. I chose it because I feel that some students say what they think is the right thing to say or what the teacher wants them to say. They aren't used to researching. This will give them the opportunity to find relevant data, pros and cons and later help them make up their own opinions based on the research done.

It can also help with classroom management.
6) I chose this because it connects the skills of persuasive argument with oral presentation and also ties in with classroom management. It also gives students incentive to be persuasive since the more convincing argument will be implemented as a new class rule.
