Thinking about what I’ve learned about how disasters and crises affect education, I now understand ....

Where is the biggest place where education is limited and where there is a lot of schools and NGOs?

Now i think quality education is connected to UNESCO and it underscores that education is a fundamental human right and a cornerstone for peace, poverty and sustainable development. It also talks about how the teachers arent properly qualified to teach the children and thats why they lack to speak simple sentences and words.

I feel disheartened and sad because of how 50% of the children can not go to school because of poverty and underdevelopment of our country.

An action i can take is do a fundraiser to earn money and donate money for neccessities and teach them so its a sustainable action that goes on even if I'm not present at the time.

However, I mostly saw quality education from a structural perspective, schools, systems, and resources.

Now I think quality education is much more complex and interconnected with other global issues. After exploring SDG 4 more deeply, I understand that access alone is not enough. True quality education also requires inclusion, cultural relevance, gender equality, accessibility for students with disabilities, and emotional well-being. Organisations like the UN emphasise lifelong learning, which helped me realise that education does not stop at childhood, it continues throughout life. I also now see how strongly education connects to other Sustainable Development Goals, such as reducing poverty and promoting gender equality. Without quality education, it is much harder to achieve progress in any area, for that matter.

So my thinking has shifted from seeing education as mainly a system that provides knowledge, to understanding it as a powerful tool for empowerment, equity, and sustainable global development.

Further, here are the reasons why children are out of school and examples of the impact on their lives, in pointers :

Why Children Are Out of School :

• Poverty – Families cannot afford school fees, uniforms, books, transport, or meals. Children may need to work to support household income.

• Child labour – Economic pressure forces children into paid or unpaid work instead of attending school.

• Gender discrimination – Girls may be kept home for household work, face early marriage, or lack safe access to school.

• Conflict and insecurity – War, violence, and political instability destroy schools and make travel unsafe.

• Displacement and refugee status – Refugee and internally displaced children often lack access to formal education systems.

• Disability and lack of inclusion – Schools may not have facilities, trained staff, or resources to support children with disabilities.

• Poor school infrastructure – Long distances to school, overcrowded classrooms, and lack of trained teachers discourage attendance.

• Health and malnutrition – Illness, chronic conditions, or hunger reduce attendance and increase dropout rates.

Examples of how children are impacted :

• Continued poverty – Without education, children have lower earning potential as adults, limiting economic mobility.

• Reduced employment opportunities – Lack of qualifications restricts access to stable and skilled jobs.

• Higher risk of child labour – Out-of-school children are more likely to enter hazardous or exploitative work.

• Increased gender inequality – Girls without education face higher risks of early marriage and financial dependence.

• Poorer health outcomes – Lower education levels are associated with higher rates of malnutrition, disease, and child mortality.

• Greater vulnerability in crises – Children without schooling are more exposed to exploitation in conflict areas.

Now i think Quality education is a way bigger problem for children because they don't get proper education and the basic necessities like pencils, notebooks, etc. UNESCO is also apart of this too because after calamities, schools get stopped, children can't go to school and that is where UNESCO comes to play and then they help children by giving them proper education after calamities and then they provide them with basic necessities like pencils, notebooks etc.

This session included simple explanations about Hygiene, activities, and questions to help children understand the importance of staying clean and healthy throughout!

This action is connected to SDG 4 because hygiene helps create a safe, clean, and healthy environment in everyday life. By teaching kids and children simple hygiene practices, we helped them to improve their daily habits and overall well-being.
