I would strongly recommend Scythe by Neal Shusterman to those who love a dystopian book with a bit of mystery to it. Scythe happens in a world where death does not exist. Scythes therefore need to kill people as their job. Two teenagers- a girl and a boy need to compete with each other to become the scythe apprentice.

The great sensory detail allowed me to picture the scenes in my head. I can connect with the main character and see her evolve and grow throughout the book. The world-building is also very elaborate and makes the country of Panem seem immersive and believable.

What we thought was a random book turnedi into a unique story, one fitting for an honors level class. The Odyssey is a highly recommended book for the class to read, as it gives a foundational work of Western literature, featuring a thrilling adventure story with timeless themes of loyalty and homecoming.
