Those being Tom, Miss Baker, Daisy, Gatsby, and Nick. These important characters all live in extraordinary wealth. They have servants and mansions. These important characters lived in west egg and east egg. West egg was considered new money. It was considered new money because people fled west in hopes of making it rich by finding a workplace, land, or gold. East egg was considered old money. It was considered old money because it is money that has been inherited for generations.  Also, this time was the 1920s. The 1920s had dramatic social reform.  Social reform was mainly for people of color and women. Before the 1900s women did not have the right to vote, but during the 1900s many women protested and promoted for them to have the right to vote. These protests ended up not being in vain because women ended up getting the right to vote in 1919. Also, during this social reform women started to become flappers. Flappers were women of the new generation that attempted to change some social reforms that women had. For example, they wanted to actually work and not always work at home. The 1920s and 2020s do have some similarities. One of them is how some women are mistreated by a wage gap or just mistreated at home. Women fought for these rights in the 1920s by protesting. They protested by becoming flappers or just protested peacefully.  Women still fight for this today by having protests or just posting a petition online. Also, the 1920s had gender roles for men. Men were the people that usually worked and got the paycheck. In the 2020s men and women work. Not making men the only people that usually worked at a place. Also, other things were wealth during the 1920s and 2020s. Both decades had mainly good wealth with there being a decent-sized middle class. With there being a middle class the economy was doing really good. Also, there was a high class. The high class did not have a lot of people because it was people who were rich. Not many people were rich during this time. Now in 2020 however there are still not as many considering the whole population, but there is a lot more in total that is rich or in the high class. Overall, the 1920s and 2020s had similarities, but not identical. These main characters, however, were in the high class. They had wealth passed down from them from their parents or great grandparents. Not many people are blessed with this and many have to work for it. I wonder what these main characters will do or will go. I wonder what story Gatsby has behind him and wonder what that green light means. This book has many questions that are not answered yet, or they may be answered, but I have not looked hard enough yet. Them being Nick, Gatsby, and Daisy. In this chapter we can learn some things from Gatsby. We can infer that Gatsby is some what of a perfectionist. When Nick tells Gatsby that Daisy is coming over Gatsby wants everything to be perfect. He gets a person to cut Nicks lawn. He wants the tea to be good. He wants everything to be perfect when he talks with Daisy. A small detail I noticed is Gatsby's clothes. They are clothes that show wealthiness. Gatsby loved Daisy, but Daisy went with Tom because of wealth. Gatsby wanted to show Daisy that he has money now. This passage as a whole is important to the chapter because it sets everything up for the chapter. It sets up why Daisy went over, why Gatsby is making everything perfect. This passage may affect the novel by showing how Gatsby wants everything to be perfect. Nick's motivation is that Gatsby is a friend and he wants to help a friend out.
