A group of Serbian nationalists planned to assassinate him as part of their resistance against the Austria-Hungary rule.Earlier that day Nedeljko Čabrinović threw a bomb at the Archduke’s car, but it missed, injuring bystanders instead.

the assassination of the archduke made headlines and caused terror to rise against different countries across Europe. The aftermath of this event caused the start of WW1 by Austria-Hungary declaring war on Serbia which will involve more countries and building alliances throughout the war.
