A talented musician, Jeanette Stofleth plays a variety of instruments and leads a band called The Acoustics. Outside of her musical pursuits, Jeanette Stofleth stays active by hiking and biking. She has biked on behalf of multiple organizations, including the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, which fuels research to cure, treat, and prevent MS.

A recent trial funded by the organization found that engaging in an online active cognitive training program specifically designed for people with MS could help improve cognitive function. The study involved 135 individuals who had different forms of MS. All participants reported some level of cognitive difficulty as a result of the disease. Over the course of 12 weeks, all participants underwent 60 hours of training from the comfort of their own homes.

Ultimately, the researchers found that people participating in active brain training experienced significant improvement in cognitive function when compared to the control group. The next step will involve looking at what types of training will have the longest-term benefits for patients in different situations or with different forms of the disease.
