This allows more families to live in one area just like in levittowns. It allows communities to form because everyone lives closer to the center of town where places like shopping centers are located. This feature of houses built around the center of town still exists now in Santa Clarita. Mass production of houses allows the quality of life to increase for less money making buying a house more affordable. Some differences that differentiate levittowns and modern-day suburban towns, unlike the older houses built, houses now are two stories and more compact. For example, now in Santa Clarita ten, 1290 square foot houses can be built on one street instead of only five of the same sized square-foot house because they are now two stories instead of one. This enables contractors to build more houses on one street to fit more families which then allows them to have more profit. An example of a law that made the towns safer are speed limits. They were created now to make communities safer as a whole because now drivers are not allowed to drive at dangerous speeds in places like neighborhoods where children are present. Not only does it make it safer for the driver who could easily loose control, it also makes it safer for the children who could possible get hurt by the car. This regulation made towns safer and a more controlled environment. They made it easier for cars to get around town and go from point A to point B when going places. It also made more direct routes around town because now commuters didn't have to worry about which route had the easiest terrain for their car. Now streets are paved and smooth to made it easier on cars, unlike when levittowns were first created with dirt roads. Streets make the communities livable, if they are not complete or not in good condition it makes it hard for commuters to live in that particular place because its hard to get around town. Now on the inside designs of houses all the decor matches unlike back in the fifties. Kitchens often have islands in the middle as well to offer more counter space, something that most 1950 kitchens did not have. Although windows are not typically as large as they were back in the fifties, going from floor to ceiling, there are still large ones that let in a lot of natural light. The spacing in houses are well thought out as well, just like in levittown houses. The designers make sure that the space in the house is not wasted at all. There is always a purpose for the space, there is never a space just there because it looks good. Houses now in Santa Clarita are very connected the inside, every room downstairs has a smooth transition into the next. There are no doors closing one room off from another. The only rooms that have doors are the bedrooms and bathrooms. Without the car the employed would not be able to travel to work as easily because they would have to walk. When the car became popular in the fifties employees were now able to travel far to commute to work.  Before cars became affordable workers were unable to live far from work because they had to walk to work. Now with cars they are able to travel far distances to work and they can live close to the center of town where all the stores are located. The affordable car erased the boundaries of where someone had to live. Even if someone like a worker doesn't have a car there is now public transportation that they can use to go from place to place. Before cars were made everyone had to live close to all the necessities to live.  One aspect that has changed is most cars are now built higher off the ground. They have also become heavily technology based. They are no longer simple, there are complex with technology that buyers have to learn about how the car works. This is also one reason why all cars come with books on how it works. One aspect that cars still have from the fifties is most have round edges there are no sharp corners anywhere. This also allows townsmen to choose who they interact with. No one has to worry about which bathroom they have to use in public because there isn't separate bathrooms for different races to use. Back in the 1950's, kids were treated differently as well, if they tried to be friends with children who looked different than them. Now there is not separate schools for different races. Kids don't look at other kids and think "I can't be friends with you because your skin is a different color." Now the way someone looks doesn't matter -- a friend is a friend. Every kid has the same level of education no matter what, even if a family is struggling financially the children are still able to go to school to learn.
