Recrystallization is one way of isolating an ionic compound from a solution. If several ionic compounds are present in an aqueous solution, then a precipitation reaction may be performed to remove the unwanted ions. In this experiment, a known amount of NaCl will be dissolved in some water, and then recrystallized by boiling off the water.

Procedure:

1. First you messure out the salt into

the flask to be between 1to 2

2. then you mix your salt with 25ml of waterand pour it into the beaker

3. Next , we put the watch glass on top of the beaker and put it on the heating plate

4. finally you what till all the water disolves and take the beaker of to let it cool,

then you weigh it after the water is out

5. Lastly, you take the accepted variable and subtract the excepted variable ,

then divid it by the exceptive variable and times it by 100

2. The percent error was positive for all of our trials. The reason it was positive is because we lost salt during the boiling section of the lab.

3. We lost our salt while it was boiling. The salt ended up on the top of the watch glass
