This Clorox bleach Ad represents a perfect example of gender bias marketing. This ad exploits the historical image of Rosie the Riveter, an iconic, strong, powerful working women, by inserting her in a cliche position of using household cleaning products. This is a blatant attempt at targeting females to feel "powerful" by simply using a specific product. Can you find any examples? Look for ads in any form of media and upload an attachment, screen cap, recording, or link with a brief analysis of the ad, explaining where you see some gender bias.

The advertisement that I've found is saying that women are bad drivers. In the picture, they show a woman with her eyes wide, meaning that she's afraid or scared to drive. Also, the caption for the advertisement is " The MiniAutonatic for Simple Driving." There is a stereotype that women can't drive or are bad at driving and this advertisement just engages in that stereotype.

This advertisement about Mr. Clean is basically saying that it is the mothers job to clean the house. I think this is the message that the advertiser is getting across because it literally says "this Mother's Day get back to the job that really matters" and has a photo of a mother and her daughter cleaning. And this is a common stereotype that means it's the moms job to stay home and clean and the father is supposed to make money for the family.

The advertisement that we have chosen shows a husband coming home from work to see her wife burning supper. He says" don't worry darling, you didn't burn the beer!" This advertisement states that a woman job is to stay home and cook or clean. This advertisement is also stating that women can't do the job in hand because they aren't as smart as men. This advertisement shows the woman crying stating that women cry about everything and that women are weaker than men. The men goes out and engages in work, and shows that after a hard day's work a man needs a beer to rest. This states that man does more work than women. Therefore this advertisement is gender stereotypical.

In this ad we think that it represents how a woman should be the one in the kitchen cooking and a man is not the one to do this job. It implies this because when it says it is so easy a man could do it, it is really saying how a man usually can't cook or make things. If this is being said then it is suggesting that the wife will be the ones to do it. This is an example of underestimating men by saying they can't cook and once again sticking the female in the kitchen or in the home saying this is what they are good for.

I think this advertisement has the use of gender stereotyping because in the ad, its literally stating that woman are not as fast nor talented as men, which is not true at all because women can be just as capable as men. Just because you are a man does not mean that you are automatically more superior than a woman. Nike states in the ad that its just another thing for men to win, this shows they don't think woman are strong, motivated, or fast enough to beat a man. This is one of many gender stereotypes that needs to be put to a stop. Women and men should be treated the same.

This "Van Heusen" ad is extremely blunt on showing gender bias/stereotypes. "Show her it's a man's world." This sentence alone portrays men being superior than women and that women aren't capable of doing anything. A man's world, that's what it is. The image in the ad is even more absurd. It's wrong on so many levels. It's showing that women are there to only care for men, basically be servants for them. That men should relax and women will bring everything for them (the woman is bringing him breakfast in bed). You can see the man's gesture, hands behind his head and in bed. Not to mention the smirk on his face motioning to the woman, basically saying "I'm better than you." Another thing to notice is their stature. The woman is on her knees and the man is relaxing in bed, looking down at the woman (again, his smirk and hands behind his head). In conclusion, this ad shows that men are superior than women.

This ad toys for boys is a good example of gender bias advertising. The ad is a very good ad to show gender bias advertising. First of the title is called toys for boys, this already is gender bias saying it is excluding the toy only for boys. Another thing that shows gender bias advertising are the color scheme, the train shown, the boy shown, another thing that strikes me that showed gender bias advertising is its display of age. First of this advertisements color scheme is blue, and as blue is associated with boys and males it is clear that it is mentioned for boys. This goes back a very long time, where everything was categorized between male and female, and is shown by color. This is a very basic way of showing which is which. Most families dress their baby in either blue or pink to show the gender of their baby otherwise people may mistake the baby's gender. I also think that ad is a gender bias advertisement because the ad itself says that this toy is for boys, it is already claiming that it is a gender bias advertisement the ad is excluding the female gender and is saying that this toy is for boys and boys only. Thus the title for this ad is the most subtle way to show that this advertisement is a gender bias advertisement. Now people may wonder why do companies like these do this, but we believe that they do this in marketing so they can make more money, because adults will buy this for there kids because they think that this toy I'd for my son. Though I believe that this is not very strategic because they are catering to a smaller amount of people. While it is smart that it is saying to the parent that the toy is for a boy and if the parent is to buy it the daughter will feel out of place and not me “girly” enough. In conclusion I believe that this ad is a great example of gender bias advertisement because of its title and it's color scheme, and that this company is really advertising towards younger boys.
