Surface run off happens when a lot of precipitation happens.Surface runoff is the unconfined flow of water over the ground surface, in contrast to channel runoff. It occurs when excess rainwater, storm water, melt water, or other sources, can no longer sufficiently rapidly infiltrate in the soil. This helps replenish the water in rivers, oceans, lakes, ponds, and etc.

Once evaporation and transpiration occur, the next stage is condensation. Condensation is the process of when gases turn into a liquid state. It's caused by when warm air collides with cold surfaces and when there's too much humidity and this form clouds.

Once condensation happens, over a period of time precipitation will occur. Precipitation is any product of the condensation of atmospheric water vapor that falls from clouds due to gravitational pull. This includes rain, sleet, hail, snow, and etc.
