In the project Darfur Atrocities Documentation Project by Yambert Karl stats "Civilians were variously killed, raped, abducted, or driven off, and their villages were looted and burned." This shows that the Janjaweed did not just kill the civilians but that they also raped and abducted them before they where killed. That's not all, according to the article Janjaweed by Britannica claims "...Janjaweed would sweep into the area, killing and mutilating the men, raping the women, and killing or kidnapping the children."  If the killing, rape, and abductions weren't enough they also mutilated men too. This shows just how harsh the Janjaweed where to people. They would also get a hold of these men, woman, and children by raiding their villages. This is supported in the article Report of the International Commission of Inquiry on Darfur by ABC-CLIO argues "...pillaging and forced displacement, throughout Darfur." This quote shows that people were removed from their villages by the Janjaweed to be killed, raped, mutilated, and/or abducted them. In conclusion, the Janjaweed used a lot of cruel ways to kill the civilians of Darfur.

One reason is religion, in the book Darfur by Gale, it states "... fight in what she called the "plastic jihad" against non-Muslim Sudanese in the south." This explains that the Janjaweed killed some civilians based on their religion but, religion is not the only reason. In the article Report of the International Commission of Inquiry on Darfur by ABC-CLIO clams "Some elements emerging from the facts including the scale of atrocities and the systematic nature of the attacks, killing, displacement and rape, as well as racially motivated statements by perpetrators that have targeted members of the African tribes only, could be indicative of the genocidal intent." This shows that one of the motives for this genocide was racially motivated. There is one more strong motive for this genocide and that is tribes. In the same article Report of the International Commission of Inquiry on Darfur by ABC-CLIO argues "There is no doubt that some of the objective elements of genocide materialized in Darfur. As discussed above, the Commission has collected substantial and reliable material which tends to show the occurrence of systematic killing of civilians belonging to particular tribes ..." This supports the claim that not only where the Janjaweed Religiously and racially motivated but that they were also motivated by tribes. All in all the Janjaweed were motivated to kill by different religions, races, and tribes.

In the article Darfur Genocide World Without Genocide states "The “Darfur Genocide” refers to the current mass slaughter and rape of Darfuri men, women, and children in Western Sudan." This shows Darfur was the location of the Darfur genocide.  The same article Darfur Genocide A World Without Genocide clams "The genocide is being carried out by a group of government-armed and funded Arab militias known as the Janjaweed (which loosely translates to ‘devils on horseback’)." This example explains how the Janjaweed were the attackers of the genocide. The Janjaweed also targeted certain people like people form different tribes and non-Muslim people. The U.S. did respond to the conflict in Darfur Sudan. According to .U.S. Response to the Situation in Darfur by U.S. Department of State claims “Almost 20,000 military personnel and more than 6,000 police will form the core of the force, whose mission is to protect civilians and humanitarian workers and to ensure peace and security.” This quote points out that the U.S. sent 20,000 soldiers and 6,000 police to help the civilians of Darfur. This shows that the U.S. did help with the conflict in Darfur.
