Assistive Technology includes many forms of technology, such as software or devices like communication systems or reading guides, which can lend aid to students, especially those with disabilities. Giving students access to different aids can improve their quality of learning and their ability to show what they have learned. These aids help students to feel confident in their environment, allow them to succeed, and feel included in a large classroom.

There are several different types of Assistive Technology that can help with a variety of disabilities. One example is the use of Screen Readers, which verbally depict what is on the user's screen and assist visually impaired users with navigate, or consume media on their touch devices. Screen readers allow those who cannot see their screens to stay connected digitally.

Assistive Technology increases accessibility in classrooms, allowing all children to be included in an open environment. When students are able to have access to information in a way that works for them, they are able to better participate in learning and interact with their peers. Additionally, assistive technology allows students with disabilities to reach their highest potential as a learner.

Differentiated instruction means creating individualized interactions with students, whether that is in the form of assessment, conversation, content, or activities. Differentiating instruction allows all students to learn in the way that works best for them, and helps students connect with the lesson at hand. Flexibility is key when it comes to DI, and teachers who exercise flexibility in their classroom help students succeed.

Differentiated instruction, by definition, comes in many forms. One example of DI is to provide learning stations during a lesson. This can be a round robin exercise where students float around to different stations and either learn or demonstrate the content in various ways i.e., a word bank station versus a station involving drawing a diagram. By rotating around the room, each student will be able to learn in a different way and they will all have access to the technique that resonates with them the most.

Differentiating instruction is about tailoring lessons to meet the needs of each student in a classroom. This is important because by making lessons individualized, teachers will be able to reach each student in the way that helps them succeed the most. This increases their desire to learn as well as their retention rate.
