Anne's father, Otto Frank, was born in Frankfurt. Anne's mother hailed from Aachen, then Anne Frank was born on June 12, 1929 ,in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. In 1934 her family moved to Amsterdam because of the Naizs invasion where her dad Otto made a business. In 1940 the Naizs invaded Amsterdam at the same time Anne’s dad Otto was trying to get papers to go to America at consulates but closed before he could get accepted, so they went into hiding above Otto’s business for two years,where They hid in the annex of the building that housed Otto's company. Some of the office personnel knew about it and assisted them. Another Jewish family accompanied them as well. They were never permitted to leave the house or make any noises from 8am-6pm. There are some moments when it could be terrifying or dangerous due to the potential for break-ins or a bombing of the city. In addition to reading widely and learning a lot, Anne began writing in a diary she had received on her 13th birthday before they went into hiding which is called “Secret Annex ''. After two years on August 4,1944, the Gestapo found their hiding place and deported them to Westerbok then sent them to a concentration camp where Anne would later die with her sister from typhus fever in late February to early March in 1945. After her death Miep Gies found her diaries and gave them to Otto Frank; he published Anne’s diaries in 1947.

One act of Resistance she did was hiding from the Naizs for two years, addition is Otto escaping one of the camps they sent him to, and Otto creating the Annex.

Some interesting detail is Anne Frank’s full name was Annelies Marie Frank, She called her diary “kitty”,she opened every entry addressing anyone reading as “Kitty”, and some suspect she got “kitty” from a per-war friend also named Kitty,while others including the friend just think it was a coincidence.

An important fact to note is Anne began writing in a second diary after hearing a radio call telling people to save their diaries during this time to doucement the suffering the Naiz caused. This diary would have contained all the same entries from the first one but it will also have new ones, leading to Otto combining her first and second versions of the diary into the final copy that was published on June 25,1947 fulfilling his daughter’s wishes.

Her first entry is “I hope I will be able to confide everything to you, as I have never been able to confide in anyone, and I hope you will be a great source of comfort and support.”

Her most popular entry is “In spite of everything I still believe that people are really good at heart. I simply can't build up my hopes on a foundation consisting of confusion, misery, and death.”

Her last entry was” As I've told you many times, I'm split in two. One side contains my exuberant cheerfulness, my flippancy, my joy in life and, above all, my ability to appreciate the lighter side of things.By that I mean not finding anything wrong with flirtations, a kiss, an embrace, an off-color joke. This side of me is usually lying in wait to ambush the other one, which is much purer, deeper and finer. ….”
