Born in Amasya in 1470 while his father Beyazit was governor of Amasya,Selim was raised by his grandfather, Sultan Mehmet The Conqueror. From an early age, he was taught State etiquette, swordsmanship, horseback riding, and shooting arrows by his grandfather himself. For this reason, he grew up as a man with superior abilities. In the health of his grandfather, he was appointed governor of Trabzon. After his father became Sultan, he went on many expeditions at the head of the army and achieved great success. Since his father was not an influential Sultan, he succeeded his father by abdicating himself. When he ascended the throne, his first goal was to seize the Indian roads and overthrow Shah Ismail, who held these roads. Yavuz, who kept his eye on budaktan, left his son Suleiman as a proxy at the beginning of the dynasty and went on the campaign with the army of Shah Ismail and entered a great battle in the plain of Çaldıran and won the battle. When Shah Ismail fled the battlefield, he eliminated a great problem by defeating Shah Ismail, who had been in trouble with his father for years. He then went on an Egyptian expedition in 1516. In 1517, he took the caliphate and the holy relics from the hands of the Abbasids and brought them to Istanbul. As a result, the Ottomans gained great power in the name of binding religion. He made his name in Turkish history as the first caliph.Selim, who achieved great success in a short time and was a large-shouldered,imposing and powerful Sultan, received the name "Yavuz" thanks to his hard temperament and valiant personality. At the same time, Islam and science were very important. He was able to speak and write, especially Arabic and Persian, as his native language. In the third year of his caliphate, when he was only 49 years old, he died of a disease called "Lion's claw" due to anthrax during the Western campaign.
