1) OECD ranking = above average
2) Scripted way of teaching - they teach just for the exams and not adapting to children’s needs.
- They focus on covering the curriculum only and not anything beyond.
- They use textbooks and worksheets - it is very teacher dominant
- Avoids extended discussions and teachers lecture most of the time
- They implement a lot of technology in their teaching strategies.
3) They exceed in math and science on international standards
4) Egypt would borrow the curriculum of their math and science given their extremely high performance and scores globally. It would be implemented in Egypt successfully because it relies on heavy memorization and the curriculum is very detailed in terms of content. The only problem we have in Egypt is the inefficiency of teachers and their ability to send information.
- We would also borrow their policy of using advanced technology for teaching aids. They have managed to provide evidence of enhanced learning strategies in their classrooms when technology has been implemented. However, Egypt doesn’t have the investment capabilities to actually buy technology for public schools.
