A little while later, a woman came up to the man's doorstep and asked for his hand in marriage. The man (blindly) said yes, and they were a happy couple. Of course, the man did not have much money to support them, so the wife asked if she could help. She said that she would make nice white fabric that the man would use to sell to the emperor, but while the woman was making the fabric, the man could not peek at her working. So they did that. But the money from the fabric ran out, so the woman repeated the process. The money ran out again, so the woman repeated the process. But while she was doing so, the man peeked in and saw that the woman was actually a crane. The crane flew away, and the man was left to his own devices.
