         <description><![CDATA[<p>Among children hospitalized for croup, children who received &gt;1 dose of dexamethasone had a longer LOS compared with children who received 1 dose of dexamethasone; however, there was no statistically significant difference in the 30‐day return to ED visits.</p><p><br/></p><p>Consideration: dexamethasone dose should last around 24 hours.</p><p><br/></p><p>Side effects of dex: hyperglycemia, irritability, difficulty sleeping, hypertension, (suppression of adrenals on prolong courses)</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>-Study of children presenting to ED with suspected CAP: Only 3 physical examination findings (wheezing, retractions, respiratory rate) had acceptable interrater reliability (IRR)</p><p>-Other examination findings that are typically considered important in making the clinical diagnosis of pneumonia (eg, crackles/rales and decreased breath sounds) demonstrated poor to moderate IRR.</p><p><br></p><p><em>Take home: </em>Reliability of many exam findings in CAP is not great; but the fair reliability of wheezing, retractions, and RR must be considered in the clinical management and research of pediatric CAP.</p>]]></description>

Also check units as different hospitals use different units. </p><p>PCT: rises within 2-3 hours, peaks in 1-2 days, normalizes in 2-3 days; &gt;0.5 ng/mL may indicate bacterial infection</p>]]></description>
