Genre: Country
Artist: Tim McGraw
Culture: American
Message: I think, in the times that we live in, it’s an important song, by itself, just by what it says, being a dad, and having daughters — one just went off to college, and another one that goes off to college next year; she graduates in May. My youngest daughter’s starting high school. So you start looking at the world in a different way than you’ve been looking at it without having kids.”
-Tim McGraw
Tim McGraw is an American resident, he was born in Louisiana. This is a very beautiful song and I believe the title speaks for itself. I think for the audience its just reaching out to everyone and saying that life is short and in today society being kind to one another and doing the right thing goes a long way. This song does not perpetrate stereotypes at all. I think this song does give hope, to me it gives hope that there are still good people out in this cruel world that we live in today. I know this song inspires me to be a better person so i do think it is a very inspirational song.

Genre: Soul
Artist: Bill Withers
Culture: American
Message: "The message of the lyrics are just what it says. That’s what I wanted to say. As to why I wanted to say it? It was an accumulation of subtle things that had buried themselves in my psyche over time. I think that would be the best explanation of why you would call something a gift is when something occurs to you, like in “Lean On Me,” and you don’t know why. If I knew why I’d get up every morning and I’d push that song button, and I would do it every day and I would just dominate the whole genre"
-Bill Withers
Bill Withers is an American who was born in West Virginia. This song has always been one of my favorites for as long as I can remember. It's message I believe reaches a lot of a audiences just because it's talking about someone being there for you. Everyone just needs that special someone whether its a friend or whoever to be there for them when times get tough. This song does not perpetrate stereotypes. This song to me gives hope that individuals can find someone that will always be there for them in desperate and tough times. This song inspires to me because it makes me personally want to be that friend that's always there for my closest friends when they need me most. It's a very encouraging song as well.

Genre: Gospel
Artist: MercyMe
Culture: American'
Message:"When my father died of cancer in 1991, he left me with the assurance that he was headed to a better place. For several years following his death, I would find myself writing the phrase 'I can only imagine' on anything I could find. That simple phrase would give me a peace thinking about what my dad was finally experiencing. Years later, in 1999, MercyMe was writing songs for an independent project. I remember coming home from a show and being wide awake on our bus at 2 o'clock in the morning. I was trying to write lyrics in an old notebook of mine, when all of a sudden, I stumbled across that phrase. About ten minutes later, the song was written. Some people say it's amazing that it was written in ten minutes, when really it had been on my heart for almost ten years."
-Bart Millard of MercyMe
MercyMe is a Christian band that is American. This may be one of my favorite songs of all time for many various reasons. I am a very devoted person to my faith in Christianity and this song speaks to my heart very strongly. In the song they sing about how beautiful heaven is and what that moment will be like when we finally reach heaven after life here on earth. This song does not perpetrate stereotypes at all. This song GIVES SO MUCH hope about our next life and gives people something to hold onto and to look forward to after death. To me this is a very inspirational song to all different and various audiences. Whether its lost people, saved people, it doesn't matter the lyrics are so strong and meaningful.

Writer: Michael Lewis
Culture: American
Message: In this movie the message is to not judge people based on their outer appearance but on their character instead. In this movie people judged Michael because of him being black and his physical appearance before they even got to know him and what he stood for. As it shows in the movie everything they portrayed him out to be they were wrong about and that makes this movie have a great message.

Stereotypes, Myths, Privilege, Sexism, Ageism, Inspiration: In this movie perpetrating the negative stereotype of African Americans does happen. Throughout the whole movie people treat Michael differently because of the fact he is black. Privilege is demonstrated throughout the whole movie with all the very rich white people in the movie and the community where they live. While Michael lives in a poverty stricken area before he finds his new home. This movie did not display Myths, Sexism, or ageism. I think that this movie is very inspirational because of how Michael came from practically nothing to making it to the NFL, proving you can accomplish anything you put your mind to.

Writer: Ron Shelton
Culture: American
Message: In this movie Billy portrays himself as a below average basketball player and "hustles" people for money at the courts where he plays in games of basketball. Everyone assumes he isn't good at basketball not because of his height or weight but because of the color of his skin.

Stereotypes, Myths, Privilege, Sexism, Ageism, Inspiration: The stereotype in this movie is that white men aren't as good as black men at basketball, nor can they dunk. That in itself is a myth and to me a very funny myth, because I personally know a lot of great white male basketball players who can also dunk. There isn't any ageism or sexism in the movie and depending on your audience this movie could be inspirational to them. To me personally it is inspirational because how he defiled the odds of winning games in 1 on 1 and in tournaments that a lot of people didn't think he would win.
