I really enjoyed the bridge project. The collaboration part of the project was great, getting to work with friends made it way more enjoyable and easy to generate concepts. I learned about bridge engineering and what it takes to build a safe and stable bridge. I learned how to manage construction materials, and how to communicate better with individuals in a group setting. I also learned about the three different types of trusses, like Warren trusses, Howe trusses, and Pratt trusses. This could be used in an engineering setting

later in life.

By Nevan Sharp
I learned how to build a bridge out of popsicle sticks and glue. A bridge is something you use every day to get over bodies of water like rivers, and oceans. The I was making the bridge I learned designing a solutions for a problem with my friends. I had fun because I got to build a bridge with my friends. We learned how to budget are concrete and find out what we need and how many loads we don't need.

I chose bridge building. I learned the most, and enjoyed bridge building the most. I learned about how bridges are structured and built, and about different kinds of warren trusses. I learned how trusses and the base of the bridge supports itself, and how to assemble a good, sturdy bridge out of popsicle sticks. I enjoyed assembling the bridge and working with a group. I liked changing ideas and putting together the trusses, and reinforcing the bridge. I might apply the Engineering Design Process in another class when I have to problem solve. Problem solving was huge while building the bridge, it helped me work with a group and problem solve. In the design process I used Define Problems.

Aleia Sweet
Making a foot orthosis was my favorite project I did this year. I learned that you need to support the foot and find a way to keep it very stable. You need to use materials that are not flexible. I enjoyed making the model and watching Chris test it out. You could apply this to your life if you would like to work with ankle and feet injuries. The problem was that a person's foot needed to be flat on the floor and unable to stand on their toes.

My favorite project this year was the bridge building project. I learned that you have to be prepared for anything when building something. Even more importantly you have to be efficient in the way you work, and in the way you use your resources. I enjoyed the construction part of the bridge build the most. My second favorite part of the build was the planning part with my group. I Could apply all of the engineering stuff I have learned to my overall understanding of things in my everyday life. For example, though out the design process I have learned how to design a solution for any problems that might come up.

I learned that its important to have a good base and structure. Using the popsicle sticks showed me a good representation of how a bridge is put together. The planning part took some time, but the ending result was successful. So build and test, also generating a concept.

Ella Haupert

My favorite project was Bridge Building. From this experience, I learned that it is easier to work together than by yourself. Also, making small steps can help you get the best result. I enjoyed that we got to practically make a scale model of something. Also, we got to work with someone else and we didn’t have to do it by our self. You can apply the Engineering Design Process by following along with it so you can get the best results.
