         <description><![CDATA[<p>Because of the advancements of weapons whenever a soldier got hit most of the time it meant amputation. Doctors didn't have modern knowledge, so most of the time it meant the death of the soldier. Every two soldiers that died of disease one would die in battle. In Andersonville, Georgia 33,000 Union prisoners were crowded into a camp. Soldiers would starve in these camps.</p>]]></description>

A man could hire another man to be a replacement for them for $300. As a result poor white working men went on a riot in New York. They targeted rich people and African Americans, because they didn't have to go into the army. Abraham Lincoln would have to bring the army into New York to stop their rampage. </p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>The Emancipation Proclamation made it possible for Black men to draft or join the military. The governor of Massachusetts creates the all black 54th regiment. Colonel Robert Shaw would lead the 54th. The 54th regiment often had to wait long for supplies, because people would supply the white regiments before the black regiment.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Booth was a american stage actor who disagreed with the abolition of slavery. Him and his co-conspirators targeted president Abraham Lincoln, vice president Andrew Johnson, and secretary of state William H. Seward. John Wilkes Booth was successful in killing Lincoln. The assassin who was supposed to kill Andrew Johnson chickened out and didn't kill him. The assassin who was supposed to kill Seward only severely wounded him. Originally Booth planned to kidnap Lincoln, but they decided not to. All Booth did was a effort to rekindle the confederate cause.  </p>]]></description>
