Jamal is a 12th-grade student who comes from an urban, multicultural community. He has always had a passion for technology and has self-taught himself how to build websites and edit videos. Jamal struggles with traditional written exams, particularly in subjects that require deep reading comprehension. However, he excels when he is allowed to listen to podcasts or audiobooks and demonstrate his understanding through discussions or digital media projects. Despite his interest in technology, Jamal faces financial constraints that limit his access to high-end digital tools at home, though he makes the most of what’s available at school.

Please answer the Following Questions in your Small Group!

How would you describe this students learning Style?

What Challenges does this student face as it pertains to Traditional assessments?

Maria is a 10th-grade student who grew up in a low-income neighborhood. She speaks Spanish at home and struggles with English proficiency, especially in reading and writing. Maria is an active participant in class but often finds traditional tests challenging. She excels when she can use visual aids, like drawings, videos, and physical objects, to demonstrate her understanding. For example, when learning about ecosystems, she created a detailed diagram of a food chain, which helped her grasp complex concepts. Her family cannot afford a computer, so she has limited access to digital tools outside of school.

Please answer the Following Questions in your Small Group!

How would you describe this students learning Style?

What Challenges does this student face as it pertains to Traditional assessments?
