Roberto was known best for losing the game, ullamaliztli, for his team and the team ended up as sacrifices, but Roberto was only a pickup player so he wasn’t part of that sacrifice. Roberto lived a good life, until he was mistaken for sacrifice. He lived a wealthy and angry lifestyle. Roberto Tuhaltuihltu’s sacrifice was long and painful. His heart was sliced out and his blood was spilled on the alters in the temples. He was used also for ritual cannibalism which his sister, Claria, participated in. On Tuesday, it will start raining around 6 AM til 8 PM with a high temperature of 65 and a low of 25. Wednesday will be a windy day. Winds could reach up to 45 miles per hour. The temperature will stay around 30 degrees all day. On Thursday the winds will still stick around but will be less intense with a speed of 20 miles per hour. The temperature will be a high of 50 and a low of 42 with full cloud cover. Friday will calm down and be a sunny day with a temperature of 65 degrees. Have a wonderful, safe week.

Ullamaliztli was played on a court designated for the game, called the tlachtli. The court was shaped like a capital “I”. There were slopes on every side of the court, with tall walls built beside them. There were judges surrounding the courts. The game was played with a ball called a ulli. It was around 9 pounds and made of rubber. The game was played by the players starting off facing each other on opposite sides of the courts. They then would battle to get the ball through the stone hoops located on both sides of the courts. Dear Failing Farmer, I suggest Crop Rotation. Planting the same crops in the same fields every year can ruin and rid the soil of necessary nutrients. Plant the tomatoes in the wheat fields, the wheat in the corn field, and the corn in the tomato field. Your crops should do much better with this system. Good luck on repaying your debt.

A ullamaliztli tlachtli of course. As an Aztec, ullamaliztli is a priority, but as a visitor of the area, we don’t exactly recommend that you play. It seems to be a simple game of getting a ball through a hoop, but the ball is almost 9 pounds of rubber and can’t touch players hands or the ground. To lessen the difficulty of scoring, a player could hit one of the six markers on the court with the ball and earn points for skillful plays. Instead of playing, visitors could always gamble, but be warned, the stakes are always high because you could end up a slave. It was common for games to settle political discrepancies, and a win earns a party bragging rights. The game also has religious references as it was designed to mirror the ball court of the heavens. This intense and risky game is a favorite of the Aztecs and a must see by its visitors.

It was a shock to the crowd when Yuolaniathulti, the star player for Tahulthialhtuii, was seriously injured. When going to hit the ball in the hoop, he was hit by an opposing player and somehow fell on a sharp rock that was mysteriously out on the court during the game. Yuolaniathulti was admitted into the local hospital and is in critical condition. The injury was blamed on the sun, according to the coach, his player was blinded by the sun. Other players believe that the sun god was not happy with the players and wanted them as sacrifices to him. Many players are shaken by this accident that occurred and refuse to play the game. Some even agreed to be sacfrices. The losing team, Perdedor, is now being praised for winning against the spectacular team. They are being treated with unlimited food and goods from other fellow Aztec villagers. Final score was 10-7. Hernan Cortes: I heard tales of the “New World” and was intrigued so I became a soldier and joined an expedition to go there.

Hernan Cortes: An injury kept me from going the first time so once I recovered I finally went over in 1504.

Interviewer: What are your thoughts on the Aztec people believing that you were one of their gods coming to save them?

Hernan Cortes: I knew once I had their trust and admiration it would be all the easier to conquer them. Their belief in me was their downfall.

Interviewer: What’s your opinion on the Aztec people?

Hernan Cortes: They were savages that deserved to be conquered. They had all of their sick sacrifices and in my opinion, the world is better off without them around anymore.

Interviewer: What do you feel has been your biggest success?

Hernan Cortes: The building of Mexico City over old Tenochtitlan where I had total control was one of the best moments of my life.

It will be partly cloudy today, but you don’t need to worry about rain, because there is only a 15% chance of showers today. Our meteorologists have calculated the forecast for the rest of the week, but there will also be daily updates. Tomorrow, Thursday the 13th, it will be very sunny, with a high of 86°, and a low of 63°. There is only a 10% chance of showers, but the humidity will be high from the increased sunshine. Because it is toward the center of the country, Tenochtitlan has a more mild climate when it comes to temperatures. As for rainfall, rain is heavier in the summer months of June to September. During the remaining October to May, rainfall is scarce. The sun in Tenochtitlan can be found shining high in the sky due to the altitude of the city between 2200 and 2600 meters. Human sacrifice is one of the most ungodly things that we Aztec do. No one should have to be summoned to death to appease any gods. If anything wild animals should be sacrificed. No human life from should ever have to endure such a cruel and inhuman activity. No ones life is benefited from the human sacrifice so why kill someone and not something to keep more people to work and appease the empire then death

Riki Bobbi passed away while eating a taco on the toilet. He grew up in Cancun by his mother Chiki Bobbi and his father Juando Bobbi. He worked as fry cook in the Aztec temples. He didn’t make any bank sadly but earned a broken back and messed up right arm. He was married to Likkian Bobbi. The two lovers had Bobita bobbi and Carlita Bobbi. Riki lived a long life and grew to be 82 years old.

The Huitzilopochtli temple suddenly caught on fire, and this was very upsetting because he was the God of war, human sacrifice, and the sun. He has been our protector since day one. Human Sacrifces make the gods happy, which is the purpose. Without it, we would all be dead, so why not just take out the weak links right? 1521 Breaking News! The capital has fallen. Hernan Cortes’s 3 month siege of Tenochtitlan after he returned was enough to cause it to fall. The capital that was originally started by a wandering tribe of hunters and gathers on islands in Lake Texcoco in 1325 A.D. and grew into to this massive Aztec Empire relatively quickly has at last been taken over. What led up to this? For starters, the Aztecs under Montezuma II had reached their greatest extent and had control over many conquered people. Montezuma II set about establishing a bureaucracy, which meant he wanted to create provinces that would pay tribute to the imperial capital. This meant giving money and people for sacrifices. This caused much resentment between these people and the Aztecs. The Aztec military was strong enough to keep rebellion at bay. This didn’t stop the tension forming between the Aztecs and these people which resulted in many enemies. Hernan Cortes led forces to the Mexican interior and on his way to Tenochititlan, he gathered Indian allies such as the Tlaxcala people once they heard his plans of conquering the Aztecs. Montezuma II tried to buy him off, but Cortes was determined. Montezuma II let them come in unopposed since he thought the Spaniards were divine envoys of Quetzalcoatl. They were greeted with honor and Cortes seized this opportunity, and he took Montezuma II as a hostage and governed through him. Cortes had to leave to defend from another Spanish force to deprive him of command. He successfully defeated them gaining some of their army to enlist under him in the process, but back at Tenochtitlan, the Aztecs were rebelling against the garrison Cortes left behind. The Spaniards fought out of the capital taking heavy losses and Montezuma II was killed in the process. On their retreat the Spaniards were able to defeat a large Aztec army at Otumba and then rejoined their Tlaxcaltec allies. Throughout this time since the Spaniards have arrived, many Aztecs were dying of small pox which was brought over by the Spaniards. All of this combined was what led to the fall of the empire into the hands of Cortes whose 3 month siege at the end was enough to take over.

Interviewer: Here we have Montezuma with us today. How are you doing today Montezuma?

Montezuma: I’m doing good. I rule over the strong Aztec empire. Under my rule, we are bigger and better than ever before. No one should be able to stop us.

Interviewer: Don’t you think you have too high of regards of your empire considering the growing tensions in your empire?

Montezuma: No. If their was ever a revolt, our military would hinder it and stop it before it occurred. There is no way anyone would go up against our jurisdiction. These tribes must give us/the capital tribute and people for sacrifices because our religion demands sacrifice. And if I say that we need more sacrifices, they have no choice to provide me victims or I will have them all slaughtered instantaneously.

Interviewer: Don’t you think that is a little too much and could also be the reason for all the resentment?

Montezuma: They probably do resent me, but they would never be able to overthrow me by themselves, so it isn’t too much.

Interviewer: What if they weren’t by themselves? What if they had help or some of them joined a strong power with advanced weapons?

Montezuma: Who would be that strong and more advanced than our powerful empire?

Interviewer: There are people called Spaniards that are led by conquistador Hernan Cortes, and they have plans of taking over the empire.

Montezuma: They won’t get my empire. We are strong and no force can overtake us or me from this empire. It wouldn’t matter how strong they are or if they gain allies from the conquered tribes under my empire.

Interviewer: I guess we’ll see then.

The Spaniards did make their way to Tenochtitlan and gathered allies on the way and were able to enter unopposed and captured Montezuma

Interviewer: We are back with Montezuma again who was recently captured by Cortes. Montezuma, did you underestimate the Spaniards or something?

Montezuma: I thought that they were divine envoys of our gods, so I let them come into the capital without stopping them.

Interviewer: And how did that turn out? I guess you aren’t so cocky now about your power now. You are indeed under the control basically of Cortes. Your people hate you and even more of your subjects hate you now that you are following the orders of a Spaniard.

Montezuma: He captured me and I still sort of believed about him being a divine envoy of our gods, so I obeyed his commands even though I didn’t want to, but I would rather stay alive than break my pride.

Interviewer: A real warrior would have fought him even if that meant death/sacrifice. At least then you still would have had pride and some form of respect. Now, you, Montezuma, are the one following orders like you have been giving during your rule. You will end up dying anyway, so why no chose to fight him? Do you really think they plan on sparing you?

Montezuma: I could have you killed for saying these accusations towards me.

Interviewer: Yeah, only if Cortes says that it is okay.

Montezuma: We are through here.

Interviewer: I guess we are.

Montezuma was killed during the Spanish retreat most likely by his own people

Taking over the Aztec Empire along with claiming Mexico for Spain. The conquistador invades Mexico in 1519 and began conquering the Aztec Empire. The heathen himself was born in 1485 and Mendellin, Spain. Sent to study law at 14, Cortés was bored and slowly grew an interest in Christopher Columbus and his journey. In 1519, his ships reached the Yucatan and Cortés intended on converting natives to Christianity. After making it to Tabasco, he overpowered resisting natives and they soon became forced allies. Giving the Europeans food, supplies, women, and more. One of the women given away as a peace offering was Malintzin who became an interest to Cortés. She became his personal translator and soon gave birth to a child for him named Martin. Heading west after a few months in the Yucatan, the conquistador founded Veracruz where he declared himself under order from King Charles I of Spain. Dismissing the authority of Velasquez, he then began training his men as soldiers and burned his ships to make retreating impossible for the troop.

Hearing of the Aztecs in the past, Cortés knew they were the primary force in Mexico. His arrival to the Aztec capital, Tenochtitlán, lined up with an Aztec prophecy based around the god Quetzalcoatl. The Aztecs believed their god was meant to return to Earth. Full of honor, Montezuma greeted the visitors and the other Aztecs were fascinated by their light skin and the fact that they were on horseback. The Spaniards began firing shots to intimidate to natives, which is when everything turned for the worst. Cortés took Montezuma hostage and Malintzin helped him manipulate the ruler in order to take over Tenochtitlán.

While in Cortés’ prime, a force from Cuba was sent by Velasquez to unseat the wannabe dictator. He then defeated the Spanish forces, but that created a weakness for the soldiers. The Aztecs were beginning a rebellion which forced the conquistador and his men to flee. They started an uproar of smallpox in Tenochtitlán, which also hit Cortés and his soldiers due to the Cuban forces. Over 3 million Aztecs died due to the disease which was Cortés’ sign to go back and take over yet again. The building of Mexico City followed shortly. Due to the success seen by King Charles I, Cortés was appointed governor of New Spain.

Cortés went to Honduras to find a rebellion against him, but stayed in the city for 2 years anyway. He traveled back toMexico to find all of his power has been revoked. After attempting to plead with the king for his privileges back, he was given the ability to travel back to Mexico with little to no authority. Cortés traveled while in Mexico and discovered Baja California in the 1530s. Retiring back to Spain in 1540, the conquistador was disappointed by not being recognized for his achievements and went back to Mexico for a final time where he died of pleurisy in 1547.

One of our most important members of our society passed on today. Our most senior general in our army was taken from us. His name was General Tizoc. He was such a courageous man, a man you could trust to do anything. No matter what he you asked of him he could get the job done. He has won countless major battles for our people, we wouldn’t be the superpower we are today without him. I am sad to say that he also has a family. A wife and 2 children, a boy and a girl with another on the way. His funeral will be held in the field of fallen warriors at sunset tomorrow. Human sacrifice is a very controversial topic. People of today would almost all agree that it is and was wrong. Killing someone and taking out there heart in some cases is not the way to honor one’s religion. Even making claims that killing someone is for your religion, shouldn’t be a warrant to continually kill your own people. This just adds to the unnecessary death of so many people like the Aztecs and the people they conquered. Some may have believed at this time that it was an honor to be sacrificed to one’s god. For the conquered people, they had to constantly pay tribute and give human sacrifices to the Aztec’s capital city Tenochtitlan. Other than the unnecessary killing of innocent people being a problem, making the conquered people give people for sacrifices caused turmoil to occur in the empire. These people didn’t like the idea, and it caused much resentment for Montezuma. So not only are sacrifices considered unethical in general, they can cause problems within a society.

For entertainment, the main game that they use to settle many arguments is called Ullamaliztli. This was so important to the Aztec culture that the ball court known as Tlachtli was typically built right after a shrine was built when settling a new land. The significance of the ball used in this game was that it represented the head of a sacrificed victim and that the losing team could be used as human sacrifices. This game was also used for so much more. It was used to settle differences between parties, some played for wagers, and the game was used for an excuse to assassinate or attack people. This game was also gambled on and sometimes even gambled so far that those people are in slavery. One rule of the game is that the ball was never allowed to touch the ground without the use of hands. The point of the game was to move the ball around like this and into the hoops. This game could decide so much in their culture that it was important to everyone and the losing party would sometimes get sacrificed or killed.

Tonalpohualli is also referred and translated to “the day count” calendar. This calendar has a total of 260 days, which consists of 20 trecenas. A trecena is what the Aztecs called a group or period of 13 days. This calendar being made up of 20 periods of 13 days, portrays that the calendar is neither solar or lunar. This specific calendar is the Aztec’s sacred and most important calendar that they use, which is due to the numerous relations of gods and goddesses being present within it. Each of the trecenas within the calendar, are ruled by a different god or goddess, which is used to highlight the importance of the gods powers toward the Aztec people. Tonalpohualli has two “wheels” that create it. The first wheel is consisting of the numbers 1-13 on it, while the second wheel has 20 different symbols displayed around it. These numbers and symbols line up with one another, and as the days continue on, the wheels turn. By the wheels rotating, the symbols and numbers get mixed and combined with the others, which provides a whole new day. Our opinion on this specific calendar is that it is confusing and slightly difficult. Compared to the standard calendars that we use in our modern world, this aztec calendar seems quite strange and difficult to comprehend. We find it confusing because there is a very large quantity of gods and goddesses, which make up the days in it, and thus being difficult to remember each of their significances to the aztec nation. The rotation of this calendar is also quite confusing, and hard to get a grasp on. One of the extreme ways we Aztecs honor the gods and goddesses, is through human sacrifices. I believe that no matter how strongly one individual worships a god or goddess for their power, they should never have to completely give up their own life to please one. Even though they do many things for us and our land, we should never have to end our own lives as innocent people, just so that they can receive a blood shed from us as humans. I believe that gods and goddesses should indeed be worshipped for all that they do for us, however I think that we as aztec humans should not die innocently, when having done nothing extremely wrong. The gardens were used to feed the large population of people who lived there. The gardens were located on top of Lake Texcoco. The gardens were about 300 feet long and 30 feet wide. The gardens were made of woven sticks that were made into a raft that would float on top of the lake. They planted corn, beans, squash, tomatoes, peppers, flowers and more.
