There are many Christians from across the world that are moving to America. This is helping to revive the community, similar to the great awakenings. For many years people have predicted the extinction of Christianity, but it has yet to happen. The decline we are experiencing now is the biggest one we have seen. The covid pandemic and recent scandals regarding the Catholic church have contributed to this loss of followers.

Over recent years, it has been predicted that Christianity in America would soon die out, following a trend that has passed over Europe. Many people have moved away from the religion, and the community of Christians in Europe has severely diminished. America has shown signs of this possibly happening here too, but there are some things that could prevent the trend from continuing.

"About 64% of Americans call themselves Christian today. That might sound like a lot, but 50 years ago that number was 90%, according to a 2020 Pew Research Center study." Many more people are declaring themselves to be not affiliated with any religion.

Although many Christians are moving away from the church, it doesnt mean they are becoming less religious. Many people leave institutionalized religion but still believe and practice on their own. In addition, some of the people who say they don't affiliate are still religious to a degree. The message of Easter in Christianity is a message of death and ressurection, and this could possibly reflect what is currently happening with the religion as a whole.

This article relates to our lessons in class because we have learned that there are many different religions that people may affiliate with, and it is not uncommon for people to change their affiliation throughout their lives. The article also talks about the trend of Christianity dying out was something that started in the east and spread west over the past decade. We learned about how Christianity started in the Middle East and its teachings eventually spread west to America, which seems to resemble what is happening now.

We learned that throughout the Bible, the people of God continuously strayed away from him and then found their way back to him. This could relate to this article because people are currently losing their connection with God and straying away from Christianity. However there could be another Great Awakening, which would bring Christianity back to the forefront of religions.

The events described in the article show that there is no uniform way to practice Christianity, and it is a very diverse religion. In the text "God is not One", Prothero says "Then as now, writes theologian Harvey Cox, there was "no central hierarchy, no commonly accepted creed, and no standard ritual practice.""(Prothero, 66) This is shown in the article as there are many different ways to practice Christianity, and some people may even believe in Jesus but not consider themselves a practicing Christian. This is due to what Prothero described.
