McLaughlin (1987) begins his critique by pointing out that Krashen never adequately defines “<strong>acquisition”, “learning”, “conscious” and “subconscious</strong>”, and that without such clarification, it is very <strong>difficult to independently determine</strong> <strong>whether subjects are “learning” or “acquiring” language.<br><br></strong>2. <strong>No clear evidence</strong> shows that <strong>increased input will result in more language acquisition</strong>, and that increased output will not.<br><br>3. It is often <strong>difficult to use the monitor correctly </strong>because the <strong>rules of a language can be extremely difficult</strong>.<br><br>4. Most <strong>normal conversation does not provide enough time</strong> <strong>to activate the Monitor System</strong>. As a result, learners might present themselves from speaking.<br><br></div>]]></description>
