Family board that is displayed. Children were encouraged to bring in pictures of them with their families. This was an extension activity from our family unit. Children were able to talk about their families during morning circle and we created a family board to reflect on our similarities and differences.

This is a great book to read to the classroom. It helps to build a classroom community and teaches children that everyone learns differently. It also helps to teach children to be considerate. It shows them that everyone is unique and that is what makes life fun.

Individual Schedule Pictures

These are photos that I have created for individual pictorial schedules for children who need their own hands-on version. The icons match the pictures that are on the large daily schedule posted in the classroom. Often times I put the individual schedules on a clip board and use velcro. This allows children to remove the activity after it is completed.

I use this website to create custom materials for my classroom. It is similar to Board Maker, but easier to navigate. You do have to pay for usage, but it is currently only $36 for the year and has unlimited uses.
