Here, I decided to expand the size of my drawings from A3 to A2, allowing me to work in bigger proportions. I used a thick black white board marker, experimenting with line and form using thicker material. I prefer this piece over my colour study as I really like being able to add more detail and more of the sculpture in my artwork, but also more tone and skill. I like the style of the 'outline' drawings as feel this is something I will incorporate into my project further down the line.

Here, I made collages of characters from fairy tales, allowing me to understand how to make collages and how it expresses my own ideas. This would also benefit me later on when I am making collages for my chosen characters.

Here, I used a black biro and pen exploring the line and form of the set up I had made, using my sculpture as the centrepiece. I started with pen and biro to open up my ideas and visualise what other materials I could use. I could have done better by adding tone and mark making to my artwork portraying better quality and skill but I will keep this in mind as I start my next explorations.

Here, I used a thin orange white board marker because I wanted to see the outcome of both white board marker pieces and compare them. I used a thinner white board marker, experimenting with line and form and a different, vibrant colour seeing which piece is better. I thinks its alright, I could have added more skill and control in places, also adding more tone and texture.

Here, I decided to expand the size of my drawings again from A2 to A1, allowing me to work in bigger proportionalities meanwhile considering the size and width of the drawing. It was really challenging drawing with charcoal with a stick, as it requires control and focus. I like the density of the shapes in the drawing as it explores volume and line. I could have done a lot better by having more control over the stick on the paper and adding tone/mark making.

Here, I decided to do a pencil with and without colour study, allowing me to compare the differences between colour and non-colour. I added more detail and mark making in a few places in my artwork, but could have done more, exploring tone and texture throughout. I really liked the final outcome due to the the colour differences, but also having better control over the artwork.

Here, I still used biro and pen, but I used a purple biro and a blue pen experimenting with vibrant colours. This feels more suitable given how vibrant the original toys were I am looking at. I think this artwork is better than my black biro and pen study, as I like the applied colour, making it stand out more and noticeable. Again, I could have added mark making and tone giving it more life and demonstrating my artistic skills further.

Here, I still used charcoal but without the stick this time, to illustrate the difference in control between the two charcoal drawings. I have clearly demonstrated more control in this drawing, as I was able to include more detail and depth in my work. However, I could have added mark making and tone giving it a sense of realism.

Here, I have started on my designs for my wig by making curls out of strips of paper, considering the length and width of each strip. As soon as I made one paper curl, I wrapped each other strip of paper around it, making sure the were all the same size. I would then celotape my paper curls to the front of my wig. I needed to make a lot more paper curls as I didn't make enough.

To start my project 'Games' I wanted to experiment with a few initial ideas to start the ball rolling. Here, I have collected a range of toys and three-dimensional shapes to make a sculpture. This got me thinking about constructive games and different colours. I carefully considered the type and colour of shapes I was using, allowing me to experiment with an array of skills and materials. I enjoyed making my sculpture as I relieved my understanding of using joints/connections to make different three-dimensional structures. I will use this to inspire some different drawings and recordings of what I can see.

Here are my final designs for my wig that will be inserted on the back. I accurately cut out each design looking back at the different lengths and widths on the base of my wig and applying it to my designs. To Start of with, I used a pencil and lightly applied it to my cut outs adding detail but also allowing to remove mistake. Then, I went over the pencil with a thick, black whiteboard marker to add further detail and mark making.

Here, I started off with making the base of the wig, considering the length, width of each strip of cardboard, meanwhile constanly looking back at my ideas and annotations. I used masking tape to keep the base of the wig more secure, so I can move on to adding detail and design.

It was a challenge on keeping the paper curls in place, but I really like how it creates form and structure on the wig.

Here is the final outcome for my wig. I am proud on how the designs worked for the back of my wig as it clearly expresses my ideas. I used masking tape to keep the designs secure on the wig. I also like how I used my knowledge and experience on joints and connections to make three-dimensional structures at the bottom of the wig.

Here, I decided to use the colours of my sculpture within my drawing using different materials to make it eye catching and noticeable. I enjoyed using gouache more than acrylic paint as gouache is more smooth giving more vibrant colours. I also liked the texture of the gouache compared to the acrylic paint. I could have created more tone making lighter and darker colours.

For my final drawing of my sculpture, I used different materials to add colour to my drawing. I didn't like the outcome of the watercolour as it lacks colour and is messy in places. I really like the oil pastel as it is r4eally smooth and expresses vibrant colours beautifully. I also like the texture and care put into the drawing. I could have done a lot better working with watercolour adding more colour and tone.

Now I have experimented with some different ideas for my project I know that I would like to respond to 'Games' by looking further at characters of different games. The characters in Chess inspire me a lot as I like the different roles they play in the game. I am intrigued by the Kings, Queens, Knights and so on. I have decided to look at these artists to begin the influence my practical work.

To kick start my project I started to look at the different characters within a game of Chess. When I was in London I found lots of similar characters within the stained glass windows. These beautiful, vivid colours reminded me of the colours I loved when experimenting with toys at the start of my project (See Sculpture). Seeing these gave me a lot of ideas for my own project development. I collated the images I took and sorted them into categories so I could see what I had and decide what to do next. I also included some additional sections such as Castles to give my characters a location.

Here, I have collected a vast amount of images from my trip to the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. I was fascinated in the stained glass and sculptures of figures related to my theme chess. Also, I made 14 different rough sketches of artwork I located in the museum that really caught my eye. I then used my fine liners to add mark making and stunning detail in my drawings. I absolutely love the outcome of my drawings, but also having more research to use later on in my project.

Here, I have made a print on one of my four ink drawings. I have created this to explore further printing techniques to advance my experimentations. I created this by using a cutting knife and removing the thin outer layers, revealing patterns. I really liked the pattern and the overall cutting. I learnt how to use this printing technique and use it later on.

Here, I have made my final outcome for the king where I have made a sculpture inspired by my ideas and experimentations. I have managed to gain more experience making three dimensional models using geometric shapes. This links to my theme as I used the structure of chess pieces within my sculpture. I really liked the array of geometric shapes and detail applied lightening the sculpture, illustrating line and form. I found making the sculpture pretty difficult as it was time-consuming and keep everything together. Now that I have done m my sculpture for the king, I can now move onto the final stage of packaging for the king.

Here, I have made the packaging for the king as my final outcome. I have created this piece to expand my understanding on packaging and explore designs. My piece has been inspired by chess designs and designs for making sculpture. I really enjoyed making the packaging three-dimensional and the amount of detail included. I found finding inspiration for my packaging difficult. I learnt how to make packages and explore design patterns.
