Mary is incredibly sadistic and twisted, she's also shown to be extremely egotistical both in and out of matches, often being confident in her victory. Mary also possesses a habit of mocking her opponents and laughing at them, especially when match seems to be her win.
After losing a match againts Yumeko, she fails to pay the debt of 8.8 million yen (RM355 859.29). She participated in another match againts Yuriko, hoping to repay her debt. Near the end of the game, Yumeko just happens to come by, which made Mary furious. Mary lost the game and owes even more. Mary have no choice but to join the debt settlement game, which Mary curses that her assigned partner is Yumeko. However the two concoct a plan to get out of debt by switching their declarations and working together during the game itself. During the game against Jun Kiwatari their plan works perfectly and he didn't look through it until the end. Mary wins and is able to free herself from her position.
After the match, Yumeko calls her up and tells her how much fun she had. Mary realise her bad attitude and starts caring for her friends.
