Study hall is for doing home work and class work that doesn't get finished
School is meant for work home is meant for sleep just like adults jobs are away and home is for family and sleep.

how many students actually put in time to do home work? The home work is assigned to practice what we learn to improved but the improving process isn't effective when children dont want to do home work, at home.

Its a waste of time to put your child in study hall they won't learn to be responsible.
Students are using Study hall for uneccasary things 
"Unfortunately, this tremendous resource is being abused by students who choose to spend the time doing unimportant tasks.
Whether it’s iPad games, Netflix movies or just a  hall has become less work and more play". This shows that study hall in unecassary its being used for "playtime" and not studytime  in that case study hall is not needed.

" On one side, students struggle to find the time to study. The pressure to take more advanced class is among many students at the high school age, and sometimes they need that extra time". Although kids might not have the time to study. Study hall is just being responsible for the student, when the student should be responsible for themselves, and be able to know to study by themselves without any help.
" On the other hand, students may take advantage and play on their phones, nap, etc". Kids just take adavntage of study hall maybe to hang with friends be on their phones, it's a mystery what students  can think of today

"If we took off time from each class to make eight periods a day, we would have less time in other classes". This shows that study hall is not needed because if kids used study hall to have their free time than why is there a need to shorten other classes to lose the education all students need, study hall isn't needed.
