I took German because I have family who lives in Germany, and I am really glad I took it. I really enjoy the food and culture it has. The games we play in class are really fun, and even in German 3 I can have a conversation in German.

German is more about learning the language than doing hours of homework which is good. Overall it is one of the more laid back choices for a language class. Choose it if it seems appealing to you.

I like being in German class because the activities we do are very engaging and to be honest, it's fun to learn something in the mornings! Some of the things we did which I liked were doing quizlet lives and writing the numbers. I've learned to introduce myself, ask people questions about themselves, and how to use verbs in German. I decided to take German because I just like how it sounds more like English. Someday I plan to visit Germany when I'm older so that I can practice what I have learned so far!

I took German to try something new, I came from a private school and didn’t have any information on what language to take at West. Taking German was a great decision because I got to know new people and the teachers are amazing. The classroom is always full of energy and I feel so welcome everyday. The classwork is very interactive and learning the language feels so simple. There is a huge opportunity for success in the program and it is definitely something I will remember!

I feel like German is the language that people might think is hard because of the heavy accent, because i thought the same thing, but i took it anyway and i think it’s really easy and fun too. I already spoke another lang. So German was somewhat new to me, and i don’t regret taking it

If you don't know what language to take in high school, I would highly recommend German! It is a very relaxed class that doesn't have a heavy workload. If you are new to the language, the teachers make it very easy to learn and a lot of the class time is spent playing games that relate to the language. German is one of the languages available at West that is the closest to English! We also go on field trips like to Christkindlmarket and have in-class projects like making sauerkraut.

The German program is truly a wonderful experience. Everything from the field trips to regular class are fun and immersive. All of the teachers are very kind and welcoming and the environment is both academic and lively. When I came to West, I knew very few people and German was what I used to make friends and be included. High school is a memorable time of your lives and German adds to the memories that you will make here.

I am German, and I myself didn't really feel connected to my motherly language. But German 3 honers really helped me learn the language and understand the German culture. Even though I was in the lower grade than everyone else every one was very friendly. And the fun activity's we do in German class are really interesting and to be honest I can't wait for next years class.

German is fun and interactive. There are many activities which make you understand the lesson a lot better. I chose to study German because it challenges you and its a new opportunity. The teachers are very friendly and also encourage you to learn something new. There are no lessons that we don't laugh and have a good time. Any question I have I always get an answer and we never work too much that we feel stressed.

I think German is one of the easiest languages to pick up and learn. I came from a private school that taught Spanish from first to fifth grade, but when we started taking German at the beginning of sixth grade I picked it up way quicker than I did Spanish. Eventually, my German knowledge surpassed that of my Spanish knowledge in the span of a single year. If you're looking for a laid-back class where you can learn a new language, German is the course to take.

The German program at Niles West is a unique experience that brings joy and the desire to learn more about the language. It is a really easy language to learn and on top of that, throughout the year you do many fun activities that other programs don't. Some of those activities include caroling during Christmas week, making Saurkrat in class, drinking hot chocolate, and many more things. I highly recommend taking this class because of how entertaining it is.

It's very easy to get an A in German, and there's a lot of history, stereotypes, food and culture that we learn about. I 100% recommend this course if you are looking to learn a foreign language. German is a really fun and pretty easy language to take. It is very similar to English so it's easy to pick up. I did German all of middle school since it was mandatory at the Lutheran school I went to. In German at Niles West we not only learn German but we also get to do fun activities to learn about their culture such as making sauerkraut and doing dances. If you're interested in taking a simple yet fun language, German is one you should look into.

In this class, the language will encapsulate your thinking. I don't exactly think of the English word, then think of its synonym in German. I just think directly in German. It roots in your memory in that way, and that type of encoding is very convenient, I think.

German is one of my favorite classes. I started German back in sixth grade at my school, and I immediately picked it up and learned easily. In German class, you learn about German culture and even participate in common German practices, such as dances or food making, which makes the class fun and productive. I started German in my sophomore year and I would deeply recommend it because we get to play games, cook food, learn dances and also take many trips.For me this was a excellent experience to really connect with the language of German. I joined German just for the purpose of being able to talk to family who lived in Germany, but after some time, I felt there was so much more purpose in that. I made long-lasting friends and memories that are unforgettable. I expanded my German vocabulary while doing fun things, not just sitting and copying notes. Hi! I love taking German at Niles West. It’s a really fun class where you get to talk with your friends and learn a new language. I find it a very helpful way of learning German, and you learn pretty quickly. We do activities based on what we’re learning. For example, an ice cream party after learning some vocabulary to use when ordering or talking about ice cream, or making German food when we learned about German food and German words for different foods. We also have a celebration for Oktoberfest each year! The teachers are all really nice and funny.
