It very rarely works. Prisoners are rarely consulted on the services that are delivered to them. They fall more under the last rung of coercion where they take part in services which they have not influenced all that much

Co production is helpful insofar as your fellow producer is able to wield their agency responsibly. Coercion is nescessary in a number of circumstances. It’s like ‘child-led learning’ - useful until the children start hitting one another. Trust can blossom into responsibility but it can also be misplaced. We need to be critical in our co production
