These are my grandparents, my Grandma was mom when mom wasn't around (she was a flight attendant), and my Grandpa was also Dad since I didn't meet my real father. They were my first caregivers

Toddler Years/Early Childhood

This was the time that I recognized I'm with Mom. Truly with her, not just physically, but emotionally also, and in a way that made me feel safe. I must have been around 3 years old here, small enough to still be carried, but old enough to start remembering things clearly. I love mom!

Preschool Years

During that time, my grandpa taught me how to ride a bike, and although I was terrified at first, his calm presence and steady voice telling me, “Ayaw pag tanaw sa baba, sa harapan ka lang palagi tingin, sa malayo” gave me the courage to keep going. Biking quickly became my little escape; every afternoon, I’d rush outside, sometimes even before finishing my homework, just to ride up and down the street, feeling like I had all the freedom in the world. Even with Mom watching and calling out reminders, I could sense her quiet pride, and in those simple moments, my world felt bigger but always anchored by the people who made me feel at home.

Elementary School Years/School Age

I received the Best in Sports award for volleyball when I finished elementary at Stella Maris Academy of Davao, where I played as a setter on the varsity team. Volleyball has always been close to my heart, not just because I love the game, but also because it runs in the family, with my aunt Lucille Almonte, the former Adamson University team captain and current libero for the Nxled Chameleons in the PVL, as my inspiration. Watching her growing up made me realize I had a natural talent for the sport.

Adolescence

As I entered my adolescent years, the pandemic brought unexpected changes, putting volleyball on hold and leading me to discover a new passion for football in Grade 7. What started as an escape quickly became a vital part of my life, offering freedom, challenge, and lessons in resilience and teamwork. Even as I fell in love with football, my love for volleyball never faded, and both sports continue to shape who I am as a varsity player at Ateneo de Davao University Senior High School.
