I would like to think that I have seen a decent bit of America but considering how big the country is I haven’t seen that much of it. The parts I have seen however seem nice because it all feels “American” but all different in the same way. To me that is one of the cool things about America. This country is so big but it all mostly feels uniquely American but everywhere in its own unique and different way. The parts of the United States I have been to include North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, and Kentucky. I might have been to more places, but I don’t remember and if I don’t remember it most likely does not have an effect.

Out of the places that I have been too I think that they can all feel so different but also so similar at the same time. For example, Florida and Kentucky feel like two very different places but they also have their own American touches that make them feel American. Little things are different like cultural differences or the types of food you might find there but they do both still feel like America in their own ways. To me that is fascinating that two places so far apart can feel like something completely different but also something similar and easy to identify. This just kind of proves the point that America is just a “giant mash of cultures”.

My travels have affected my perspective on living in America somewhat but not as greatly as it could. I have been to different parts of America, but they are all on the same side of America. I think that if I went to the west coast for example, it would have more of a great impact on my views of living as an American because they are much more different than Florida for example.

The “American Dream” can be a little different from American to American, but for the most part I would say the “American Dream” is nice car, nice house, perfect family, and ideal job, which would all depend on the person whose dream it is. Even then “The American Dream” can vary from person to person. Not all Americans want the same thing. To me when I hear American dream the nice house, car, etc. is just a standard definition not what I want for myself necessarily or what I think all other Americans truly dream for.
My dream is just to be able to look back and know that I did something and to be content with that and what I have. I would like to look back at my life and not regret things as much as possible and be satisfied with what I have accomplished in my life. I would also like to look back and just be happy that things turned out the way that they did, and I can be happy that I turned out the way I did. A family is also part of my dream but it I am not picky. I am not like one of the people who is determined to have x number of kids, a Porsche, and a gigantic house with 5 bedrooms and a pool. All that sounds nice, but I think I would rather be content with what I have rather than looking at all of that. If that is someone’s dream that’s them and if I end up with that then that fine too but that isn’t really something I have my sights on. I would like to have a nice job and things like that, not too sure what though. It would be really cool to do something in the music industry, but I do not really know what. In the end of the day the little, tiny specific details don’t matter to me if I can be happy and content with what happens that is my dream.
Being a successful adult for me I think is probably going to just be at the point where I can look back and be happy with what has happened in my life up until then. When I can look back and be happy that all the good and bad took me to where I am at, at the current moment. When all of the struggles add up to something and I can see that something has happened in my life and I have gotten a life that I can be truly happy with and proud of achieving.

Religion is an interesting topic in the United States as it is anywhere else. It is a very touchy topic because a lot of people are very defensive of their beliefs. I think that might go for a lot of other places too but, America is a mix of all kinds of different beliefs and religions possibly because it is a mix of all different types of people with all different types of backgrounds and origins. For what it’s worth just don’t go up to random people and try to persuade them out of their beliefs and ideas and you should be fine.

One of the many unwritten rules in America is that it is considered rude not to tip someone, especially if they are in the food service industry. For example, if you ordered food at a good sit-down restaurant and then you pay, you are supposed to pay a little extra to the waitress. This stands true for things like hotels and taxi drivers too. If you are in America tip people, they really don’t get paid enough.

Politics in America are very confusing and lots of times there are things being masked here. The government is so much but at the same time all of it (mostly) is bad. As far as the actual politics side of it there are two main parties, the democrats and the republicans. It is very complex on both sides, and I do not fully understand it because there is so much to there and its all mostly bad. It is a very odd thing because both sides have their agenda and try to push it so far, but then what they said their agenda isn’t even what the agenda really is. A lot of the American government is kept out of the view of the common people because I’m sure if it wasn’t that would not be a good sight. There is also lots of very strong opinions on these things too so if I was visiting America I would not create any turmoil with this because you definitely could.

A lot of the world’s entertainment comes from Hollywood. The entertainment is good, but movies and TV aren’t really a true depiction of American life. Another big thing in America (maybe not as big as it used to be but still big) is going out to the movie theaters. It’s a fun thing to get together with a group of your friends and go see the new movie that just came out in the theater on the big screen. More entertainment styles include plays that you can go watch especially in New York on Broadway. Music is also another thing that is very diverse. As we have tons of different types of people, this makes tons of different types of music. From things like classic rock to hip hop and pop America has a lot of it all. America is pretty diverse as far as entertainment goes and I don’t think too many visitors will get bored that easily.

Holidays in the United States are pretty well celebrated with most people taking off work and going to see their families for them. This is true especially with the major holidays such as Christmas, The New Year, Thanksgiving, and somewhat the 4th of July. Holidays like Christmas and the New Year are celebrated basically everywhere, however holidays like Thanksgiving and the 4th are for the most part uniquely American. There are many other American holidays, but they aren’t as big. These include Juneteenth, Memorial Day, Veterans Day, and more. While those are American holidays people don’t typically get a week off work and go visit all their family (they might if their family lives nearby but even then, it would only be a day or two). Thanksgiving is basically a meal and spending time with your family where you get to be thankful for everything that you have or anything you are just thankful for. This holiday is important to me because it is important to look at what you already have and just be thankful, then looking at what you could have. That’s basically what thanksgiving is (besides being turkey day). The 4th of July is a holiday of celebrating America and our freedoms that not everyone has. It would typically include people spending time with their families and doing things like lighting fireworks off. The 4th is basically just a big celebration of freedom.

There are two primary languages in America, English and then Spanish. While all different types of languages exist in America most everyone here is bound to understand one of those two. Other languages are in America too though they just might not be as common. When you have so many cultures co-existing in one country you will have a lot of their languages as well. As far as accents go there are all kinds of accents in America. Because America is so diverse and has so many people a lot of them have accents. Not everyone in America was originally an English speaker, and some of them have accents. Accents are very common in the US because that’s just what happens when you mix all kinds of cultures together. Accents also vary from where in the US you are. If you are up north people will talk in a different accent than if you were in the deep south or in California. So accents vary from the persons origin but also from where you are in the country.

Most Americans like having their own personal space. For example, most People don’t want to be hugged or greeted with anything like that by a stranger. Hugging someone is an okay greeting if people know each other but not like in some other countries how it is common for everyone. Americans also do not really appreciate if you are walking super close behind them. Usually, people also do not like it when you get super close to them when you are talking. So just leave space between you and others because Americans just like their personal space.

I do not know much about other countries but in America, lots of people will ask "how are you?" as a form of being polite. The only catch with this is, that usually people do not really care that much about how you are. So lots of people will ask how you are but most of them would just look at you confused if you gave them a whole story about everything that's going wrong. So if you are in America just nod politely say "Good! How are you?" and move along with your day.
