Today we have been to school visits to a school for school children aged 3-6 years.
We were welcomed by all the students and the teacher, with Gwo ka music.
students and 2 lessons danced for us.
Pupils are sorry it was exciting to visit so they would like to be photographed with us.
We were allowed to attend a little of a French / Catholic hour in the youngest class.
It was fun to see that they work with the letters form and sound that I do in my teaching with the smallest ones.
However, the day became a little shorter than it should have been.
Then the mayer and the inspector.
from school did not mean we had to be there because of some papers that were not in order.

When we were at school I experienced some open and curious children.
As curious as we were there.
I sat next to a boy of about 4-5 years who really wanted to teach me the vowels in French, both with sound and what it looked like.

So I think that the quotation today must be dont worry be happy...

Reading the texts for today made me think about, what I do to be a global citizen. From the article I read, I recon I already do many things. I grow my own vegetables in the garden, when the season allows it, when not, I buy local or danish fruits and vegetables. I skip meat several days a week. I develop personally by traveling and making friendships in many countries. I try to pass sustainable habits and values to my children to protect the environment, but I can still learn and improve.
Being a teacher at a school who values international outlook and cooperation gives me an opportunity to teach and develop my students to become global citizens. I appreciate that very much.
The school visit today reminded me of, how privileged I am, being a teacher in the danish school system. We have no bureaucracy, what happened for us at school today would never happen in Denmark. It also made me aware of aspects of cultural meetings. The huge Erasmus group entered the school with selfies sticks, Iphones and cameras. I prefer to observe and talk to people before I take pictures. Observing that scene made me aware of it.
The responsible teacher Melissa and the Headmistress were very strong women and welcoming persons. I'm glad we met them.

Quote of the day:
“If you feed a child, you strengthen him for a day; if you educate him, you strengthen him for a lifetime.”
― Matshona Dhliwayo

School visit – Basse Terre – petit Bourg - Ecole Albertine Mignard

Today we had the opportunity to share our opinions on the meaning of being a global citizen together with the local school team in Petit Bourg and the international teachers from Erasmus+ Project “The new heroes of Europe” present at school at the same time.

Discussion converged on the purpose of teaching today, which we agreed is to accept the responsability to personally face and help our students face the challenges of our millenium: human rights, equity, pluralism, sustainable economic growth, humanitarian assistance first of all.

As global teachers, we stressed the need to use new approaches and metodologies to encourage thinking on the central issues to global citizenship.

Most of all, we were encouraged to think about the impact we make on the planet and become environmentally minded. Secondly, discussion focused on how responsaible we are for upholding the rights of others.

From theory, we had the opportunity to experiment how these issues are faced by the local community and the local school staff, which made discussion even more interesting.

Entering a school for me is like opening the front door and feeling immediately at ease. This morning, passing the gate of the school of Petit Bourge, I immediately breathed a good climate: smiling teachers, lively children, happy, curious and motivated. There was a festive atmosphere, teachers from different parts of the world were welcomed, all with common goals: learning about new educational systems, exchanging good practices, offering their students exciting opportunities, comparing different cultures, working on affinities and making differences a resource. We shared a methodology related to the learning of vowels through music, we witnessed the performance of folk dances reminiscent of old traditions, finally through the snapshots, we have immortalized emotions. Perhaps a common reflection with others is lacking, but it does not matter, sometimes some important concepts go beyond words

Life is a process of knowledge.”To live is to learn”
