[RI.K.2]<br><br></div><div>19. Actively engage in group reading activities with purpose and understanding. [RI.K.10]<br><br></div><div>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;The teacher will have a picture showing all four seasons. The teacher will begin discussing what the students already know about the seasons.&nbsp; The teacher will ask the students what they know about season and make a KWL chart using the information shared by the students. Students will tell what they think the seasons are. After listing what they know on the chart the teacher will read an informational text, Four Seasons Make a Year by Anne Rockwell to the students. After reading the book the teacher will add additional information to the chart. The students will observe the pictures of the four seasons. The teacher will tell the names of the four seasons, what months they are in, and give characteristics of each. To help students relate to the seasons ask questions what did you do over the Summer? Show the students the words Winter, Summer, Spring, and Fall. Students will ask questions about seasons. The teacher will model the season cards and use the season word cards for the students to match. The teacher will ask students which season do they like best.
