Clementine wants so desperately to be nominated and chosen to be "Friend of the Week" in her class. When she is chosen, she bends over backwards in hopes to impress her classmates in order for them to write nice things about her in the Friend of the Week booklet. Throughout the book, Clementine has to combat her feelings towards her best friend Margaret, who is a snobby, judgmental, overachiever. Quite frankly,Margaret often makes Clementine feel belittled.In the end, Clementine looses her kitten who she loves more than the world. Being chosen as friend of the week is the least of her worries at this point. To her surprise, it was her best friend/ frenemy who helped Clementine reunite with her four-legged baby.Clementine realizes, maybe Margaret isn't too bad of a person after all.
