What does it mean to be working class? Is there even a working class in Britain?

“Good, solid, hard-working, warm people, salt of the earth”

“close families, people where the neighbors were all fenced together but generally quite happy people!”

“manual labour job”

Who is really in the middle?

“Middle class is a funny thing isn’t it?”

“2.4 children”

“people who drink a lot of coffee”

“ this prison almost of expectations”

Middle class people are presented as people unable to decide themselves, always fall between two stools:: “should they have a nanny for their children or not? Should they take more than one holiday a year?”

“what restaurant should I be going to? are these the right shoes?”

They sometimes pretend to be upper class people.

Are they more defensive of their middle class than anybody else or is there any reason to be middle class? “who would like to be middle of anything?”
