Jean Val Jean a kind man forced to steal bread for his 2 sisters because he did not have enough money to buy it. Sent to jail and forced to do labor for a total of 19 years. After being released he was discriminated by every inn and bar as he was rejected stay and food. His hatred for the world became greater and greater. until he saved the chief from a burning house which gave him the opportunity to be mayor. This lasted for a while, but he was found as Jean Val Jean and was chased around the country for years as he adopted cossette.

Inspector Javert(Pedro Pascal)

Inspector Javert does not like mayor Jean Val Jean as he thinks he is using a fake identity which he is. He stalks Jean Val Jean everyday by peeking out of his window to see if his suspicion is right. He has very keen senses and is very good at his job. Jena Val Jeans identity is eventually released and goes on the run while Inspector Javert is on his tail. He eventually finds him and disguises as a homeless man Jean Val Jean has been giving money to. Jean Val Jean had escaped but that only made Inspector Javert angrier and more determined. He has caught up to Jean Val Jean once again and this time Jean Val Jean has the chance to kill him but spares his life. This eventually leads to him jumping into the river and committing suicide.

The Bishop(Danny Devito)

The Bishop a rich man with a huge house but chooses not to live as others are in need, which is why he gives his rooms to poor and homeless. At this time Jean Val Jean is out of jail and not being accepted anywhere and soon stumbles upon the bishop who gives him shelter, food, and water. But his kindness gestures could not save Jean Val Jeans urge to steal his pure silver spoons and run away. But the bishop is forgiving and tells him that he has bought is soul.

Fantine(Kathy Bates)

Cossettes mom, but she had to give her to the Thenardier's because she did not have the funds to take care of her. At the time Cossette was sick and she sold her teeth, hair, and also became a prostitute just for the hope that Cossette could get a good doctor. Fantine had been fooled by the Thenardier's with her money not going to a doctor but only their own pockets. But before Fantine could see her daughter again she passed away in the hospital.

Cossette(Natalie Portman)

Cossette the daughter of Fantine sent to live with the Thenardier's. Eventually saved from poor living conditions by Jean Val Jean after paying the Thenardier's. She had spent a happy life with Jean Val Jean as she grew up and eventually got married to Marius and lived her life out with him.

Taking care of Cossette along with her husband Monsieur Thenardier. Madame Thenardier and her husband are both scamming Fantine of her money while Cossette is with them. Very abusive towards Cossette as she does not like it when she does not do all the chores. Very greedy and only wants money in almost every situation she is in. Reffered to as frail and weak by her husband.

Monsieur Thenardier(Jake Gyllenhaal)

Taking care of Cossette alongside his wife Madame Thenardier. While also scamming Fantine of all her money. Tries to persuade Jean Val Jean to give him a lot of money for Cossette as he is even more greedy than Madame Thenardier. Now a criminal trying to escape Inspector Javert.

Law student but also fights in the French Revolution. Fell unconscious during battle and saved by Jean Val Jean as he carried him through the sewer. Learns that Cossette's dad is Jean Val Jean and tells him that he cannot visit anymore. Eventually learns that jean al Jean is not a criminal and saved him. He then feels sorry for him and apologizes.
