When he was thrown into a world unknown to him, he had to forge on and discover it almost on his own. He stuck to his beliefs and spoke with "words as hard as cannon balls," when he believed someone was doing the wrong thing. When the world was against him, all he did was "Absolve [him] to [himself]," and he fought to make the world good again.

This song talks about the people who don't fit in and people aren't able to understand them. When the song says, "My people are the misfits
the ones that don't fit in," is almost an exact saying of Emerson's "To be great is to be misunderstood." Because while the people in the song don't fit in, they still believe themselves to great and that they have a place in this world.

However, he ended up not listening to anyone that said those sorts of thing but instead went on to become one of the smartest person in history.

I do not believe a society of individualists could exist. A society works on the fact that masses of people are able to work together for common goals. However if such a society existed, everyone would constantly be seeking to change the world to their vision with constant "words as hard as cannon balls," being said leading to nothing really being accomplished in the society.
