I chose it because it helps you grasp the likely hood of someone surviving in the relative safety of the trenches and life in it. Also, it tells you the percent of people in what place.

I find it interesting that it covers multiple things in the war that were most prominent in WWI. The war brought about lots of inventions, including many things like aeroplanes and U-boats, which were used as weapons first. It also highlights the large number of nations and their position. Lastly, it shows the losses by each side, military AND civillian.

I am interested in the large amount of civilian deaths present in some of these nations. Notably, Germany, with a noticeably higher death count than their military deaths, probably as a result of the famines caused by British Blockades. As well as Serbia, with 16% of its population perishing in the Great War.

It interests me how much of an impact the Western Front had over the course of the war, and the 800,000 people who died only on the Western Front.

It is interesting how small some of these numbers are; only 634 Victoria crosses (awards for bravery) were awarded, Britain commonwealth only lost 485,000 horses (whereas 8 million horses died in the war)
