One green effort i can identify is the usage of the automated electric shuttle bus and i believe its effective as this in return helps reduce the carbon foitprint but also helps to provide transport for NSFs and NSmen especially for those who are handicapped.

1. It is necessary for Singapore to introduce such measures as global warming has been an issue that has been going on long before people could fathom the thought of a pandemic. Singapore has always been seen as an innovative country and they needed to lead the charge against fighting global warming. It helps to keep the environment clean and make the quality of living better in the future. It also helps Singapore to be more independent and show that they are a country that is always looking to build for the future.

2. In SAF and KC2, food waste is recycled and reused to be converted into electrical energy that helps to keep the lights and fans on in the many bunk rooms located in the camps. This segregation and recycling processes are already implemented in 14 cookhouses. This will be extended to all cookhouses by 2024. Yes I think it is effective as there tends to be many food waste due to the different appetites of the many soldiers in the SAF camps. This is a good way to innovate and solve an ongoing issue of food waste and the waste is being converted into one of the most valuable energy sources needed to keep the SAF camps running. SAF can consider placing more recycling bins around the camp as it gives soldiers an option to throw their paper and plastic waste into these bins which would ensure that these materials can be reused as materials for new products.

Why is it necessary that sg introduces such a major campaign in the middle of covid ruckus?

Reason being is because during this covid-19 pandemic, everyone starts to work from home, conduct home based learning at homes, uses more electricity at home as almost all people are home 24/7 due to restrictions. Hence people might tend to waste unnecessary electricity such as turning on the air condition 24/7 the whole day. By introducing such major campaigns in the middle of covid ruckus, it will raise awareness to Singaporeans on what is happening around the world in terms of global warming, carbon footprints emissions and start taking responsibilities and action to help reducing and limiting them within their own abilities. As such Singapore can become a clean and green city with minimal carbon footprints emissions contributing to global warming.

Identify green efforts IN SAF/KC2. Do you think it is effective? How else can it be improved?

Ans: In SAF and KC2, we strived to minimise and reduce food wastage and recycling and sorting out different food waste as such to reuse them and recycle. For example we have different bins for different food wastage such as bins for plastics and bins for pure food only. This is a very good example of a green effort by the SAF and KC2. Personally I do think that it is effective however it can be improved by enforcing rules on every personnel to finish their food or if not limit the portion of food given to each personnel in the SAF/KC2 and not give extra portions and end up throwing them and wasting them.

1. Why is it necessary that SG introduces such a major campaign in the middle of covid ruckus?

- During this pandemic, Singapore is trying to raise awareness to Singaporeans to educate them more about the effects of global warming, carbon footprint emissions to allow people to take responsibility to reduce or limit within their means. Some examples, switching off lights when not in use, turning off the air conditioner and using a fan instead or setting a timer on the air conditioner are effective ways to reduce energy consumption during this pandemic where working/studying from home is the new normal.

2. Identify green efforts IN SAF/KC2. Do you think it is effective? How else can it be improved?

Having the requirement to divide between food waste and non-food waste such as plastic containers/wrappers are excellent green efforts conducted in SAF/KC2. Food waste can be used to generate electricity, while the plastic containers/wrappers on the other hand can be recycled/reused ♻️ I think this procedure that is practiced in camp is extremely effective in driving SAF personnel to feel a sense of responsibility in their green culture values. One way it can be improved is through posters to explain the reason for the trash separation bins, as not many personnel are aware of the cause behind this action.

Do you think it is effective? How else can it be improved?

1. It is necessary to introduce such a campaign during the Covid-19 ruckus due to the effect it can have when implementing such a plan to the public. In the middle of this Covid-19 situation, people are panicking and wondering what they can do to survive this crisis, especially after the recent infected cases. As such, when the government starts a campaign like the Green Plan, it will help to motivate and inspire many people not to worry about the current Covid-19 virus as long as we follow preventive measures in addition to help prepare plans for the Green Plan and Covid-19 so that in the future, Singapore has measures to stop its citizens from getting Covid-19 and possibly it will decrease its infected to 0, as well as help building SG for the Green Plan, thus saving any cost-efficient operations.

2. The green efforts in the SAF are that they are trying to help separate food waste from non food waste and that they telling recruits to not throw waste on to the floor and throw it the bin as well as pushing the said trash further into the trashbin so that there is more space for more trash to be thrown. These efforts can be improved upon by implementing robotic machines upon the corridor or the bunk so that when the robot sweeps/mops the floor, recruits won't have to waste their time trying to clean their bunk when they can rest from their military duties everyday and sergeants won't have to remind or shout at the recruits to clean their bunk.

In this Covid-19 circumstance, individuals are terrifying and thinking about what they can do to endure this emergency, particularly after the new tainted cases. All things considered, when the public authority begins a mission like the Green Plan, it will assist with persuading and motivate many individuals not to stress over the current Covid-19 infection as long as we follow preventive measures notwithstanding assist with planning plans for the Green Plan and Covid-19 so that later on, Singapore has measures to prevent its residents from getting Covid-19 and perhaps it will diminish its contaminated to 0, just as help building SG for the Green Plan, hence saving any expense productive activities.

2. These endeavors can be developed by executing mechanical machines upon the hall or the bunk with the goal that when the robot clears/wipes the floor, initiates will not need to burn through their time attempting to clean their bunk when they can rest from their tactical obligations ordinary and sergeants will not need to remind or yell at the volunteers to clean their bunk.

1. Why is it necessary that sg introduces such a major campaign in the middle of covid ruckus?

During the pandemic, people are forced to stay indoors most of the time. With that, comes the excess use of household appliances like air conditioning and services like grab and amazon, leading to a surplus of waste produced in the form of takeout bags and packaging. Starting a major campaign in these times emphasises the importance of green efforts, and gives the government propaganda that shows that they care about the environment to rally peoples support for them.

2. Identify green efforts IN SAF/KC2. Do you think it is effective? How else can it be improved?

We are made to separate food waste from other waste. This allows the easier recycling of other waste. The food waste is then used for the generation of electricity, ensuring that the food would not be wasted even if left unconsumed. The appliances in the bunks are also required to be turned off while not in use, reducing the amount of electricity used as possible. While the effectiveness of these methods are questionable, it is at the very least, better than doing absolutely nothing.
For improvements, possibly change the lights used to more eco friendly ones that use less energy. Perhaps it would also be feasible to convert the footsteps of all personnel into energy like the system installed in Shinjuku station in Japan. With all the army personnel and the amount of marching done in any given day, it could be a possible solution.

Why is it necessary that sg introduces such a major campaign in the middle of covid ruckus?

As covid will become an endemic sooner or later, it is a global problem that will fizzle out one way or another. However, global warming is ever prevalent due to how dependent the world is on devices and systems that bring about global warming via the dispersion and emission of carbon and greenhouse gases. Having such a campaign would definitely bring out awareness that global warming is just as important an issue as covid and that it is not to be taken lightly. Thus, spreading this awareness will also allow people to understand measures that they are capable of and help mitigate the rate of global warming in the world.

2. Identify green efforts IN SAF/KC2. Do you think it is effective? How else can it be improved?

We were introduced to how food waste is handled by the SAF and KC2 where they utilize food waste as a form of bio fuel that has been repurposed to provide power and electricity to the camps. It is an effective method as the amount of food waste generated is definitely significant and by having the food waste be processed into power, it is a resourceful way of recycling waste into useful resources. One way to improve the overall process is to have a refining process where the food waste is processed to yield greater efficacy when decomposed into energy.

1. Why is it necessary that sg introduces such a major campaign in the middle of covid ruckus?

It is necessary and actually very important because it shows alot of what we are as a country. Covid-19 has taken many lives all over the world and affected billions of people. It shows our character as a nation that even in the midst of the grueling pandemic, we are still able to implement such campaigns that will help us secure our future. Nowadays there are many green campaigns or posters about on how to help the environment, but i feel that people are still clueless or uneducated on what's really happening in the world. Global warming has gotten worse over the years and have continue to worsen due to lack of effort and attention the other big countries are doing. When Singapore introduced The Green Plan 2030, not only will it help our country a lot, but it also sets an example for other countries that these are the type of campaigns that we have to implement to tackle the problem of global warming, and ultimately persevering our home.

2. Identify green efforts IN SAF/KC2. Do you think it is effective? How else can it be improved?

One of the green efforts is collecting waste and turning it to renewable energy. It is effective because we are reducing our waste and at the same time, getting energy out of it. It can be improved by implementing it on other places, not only limited to the canteen. Another green effort made by the SAF is educating us about all these stuff, it is really important for us to know the importance of cleaning the environment and preserving our home. The only concern is that, even I myself find that these kind of lessons are generally stale and boring, making us lose interest on the topics. Lectures should be more interactive to instill interest and encourage NS men to be more willing to follow the initiatives. Last but not least, SAF implements the '3Rs' which is an effective way of protecting the Earth. Having more recycling bins placed around the camp or outside our bunks will encourage recycling rather than burning everything to waste.

It's necessary because the longer we procrastinate, the harder it will be for us to reverse or at least mitigate global warming and climate change, as some studies suggest. Hence, it's better to just start now, even with the COVID pandemic. Just because we have a pandemic, it doesn't mean that environmental problems have come to a halt. I also don't know why government suddenly want to start these initiatives now, but better late than never I guess.

2. There is always room for improvement. The moment we believe that we have done enough is the moment we become complacent, and complacency will greatly hinder our progress in saving the environment.

1. I believe that it is necessary to implement such a campaign beacause we are spending more time at home and this brings an opportunity for everyone to start being green by individual efforts which are easier to monitor and gauge. It will also be easier to progress at a personal level at home.

For cooperations, where the world seem to be slowing down interms of producing carbon footprints they can seize this opportunity to make changes to how they operate with fossil fuel and monitor to change other, non environmental friendly methods cooperate currently are using.

2. Some of the implementations that i noticed is the use of electric buses to ferry us from KC3 entrance to school 5 foyer during enlistment day. It is a good initiative that camp are inplementing such transportation for the recruits and for the environment to reduce carbon footprint.
Another eco-friendly measures that the Kranji camp implemented was separating foodwaste into organic and inorganic waste to turn trash another means of energy

Some improvements that can be made in KC2 is the use of ceiling lights with sensors at walkways and toilets that will turn off automatically when there is no human traffic to reduce the electricity usage as there may not be a lot of pedestrian movement at night which would lead to the waste of electricity if it were to keep lighted up throughout the night.
