Pupae: Pupae are living insects. They are living because they move, eat, breathe, sleep, stores energy.

Fossil: Fossils are not living because fossils are bones, bones are apart of something living until the body it belonged to decomposes. The fossils do not posses characteristics.

Hibernating Bear: A Hibernating bear is living. The bear before hibernation was alive. When a bear goes into hibernation, it is just a deep sleep. The hibernating bear still breathes and moves.
