<title>The problem of overweight becomes actual facing humanity nowadays. Obesity is a widespread phenomenon that implies violation of metabolism. Different age groups suffer from obesity due to various circumstances. Sedentary lifestyle and malnutrition facilitate the problem. However, there can be other factors such as genetic disorders, physiological states (pregnancy, climax), lack of sleep, stress, hormonal therapy and psychotropic medication.Over one billion of the world population face the problem of excess weight. This appalling number is inevitably increasing. Statistics claims that people with high income suffer from obesity less in comparison with the people whose income is lower. Thus, it means that proper nutrition and healthy lifestyle is more popular among wealthy people. It is important to have a clear understanding whether the problem of obesity is a chronic phenomenon or not. It is relevant to admit that obesity is a disease. The notion “chronic disease” implies the condition proceeding a long period and cannot be completely cured. Chronic diseases require complex approach in order to maintain control over it. “Obesity is a chronic disease with a multifactorial etiology including genetics, environment, metabolism, lifestyle, and behavioral components” (Rippe JM et al, Obesity as a Chronic Disease). It becomes the enemy of one’s pancreas, heart, respiratory system, liver and causes irreversible changes in human’s organism. Those who gain victory over obesity should make efforts to save the result and avoid relapse. The popular proverb says “prevention is better than cure.”No less important is the case of childhood obesity. It is considered a big mistake when children from early age are getting used to overeating. Therefore, immature organism throws all the strength and energetic reserve to digest the amount of food eaten. “Obesity occurs when energy intake exceeds energy expenditure” (James O. Hill et al, Energy Balance and Obesity).Summarizing the above-mentioned cases, we can reach a conclusion that obesity is a chronic condition that requires permanent control. Otherwise, the people have a great risk to get serious problems with health. The best way to avoid this trouble lies in prevention. Healthy lifestyle, proper nutrition and sufficient physical activity will help to stay in a good shape at any age.Works Cited:James O. Hill, Ph.D., et al. Energy Balance and Obesity.
