I don't know what poem I'm going to perform. but the person I'm doing my research on is Langston Hughes. Langston Hughes was a African American poet, social activist, novelist, playwright, and he was the earliest innovators of the then-new literary art form called jazz poetry. Black History Month means a lot to me because we have a lot of blacks who sacrificed a lot for or people. I believe it is celebrating the black culture. I don't think it is fair because we only get one month to celebrate. Also we need to celebrate this month because we went through the most like struggling, poverty, and even slavery. I think by giving us this month its acknowledging black people freedom. Another reason its acknowledging peace. Also its acknowledging the end of racism, or at least a little bit.

I think it's also important to show our importance as well. Racism will probably always exist but at least there's a month for our people, although i feel like people should feel special everyday at least we can feel special for a month, and we can remember the sacrifices that were made so that we can live freely today. i personally love Black History Month. I love the people who showed bravery, and who  were couragous enough to stand up for what they believed in.

What the poem is going to be about is some struggles African Americans went through. Its also going to be about some of the good things as well.  Its significant to give tribute to the African American culture because they had been through a whole lot. They changed history like never before. What they did back in the day impacted all our lives today.
