Verbal communication is a type of communication where we need words to express what we want to say to other people.
Words also work as:
-symbols
- arbitrary
-ambiguous
- denotative and connotative
- meanings in people
- culture bonds

The words that we choose to use while speaking or writing to others can show our perception, thoughts and more to others. We need to choose our words wisely before replying to someone or giving different opinions to others to avoid misunderstanding.

When we use verbal communication, misunderstanding sometimes can happen. As an example, in September 2021, I have a misunderstanding with my industrial supervisor about a task that both of us need to do for my director's UNICEF presentation about world children's day. The director asked me to do some changes to some slides such as changing the background and insert the pictures that she sent to me personally. My supervisor didn't know about the changes that the director ask me to do and she felt a little bit frustrated about the changes that I made when the director mentioned it in our weekly meeting through Zoom. She suddenly act cold to me during the meeting because of it. After the meeting, I called her and told her what the director asked me to do and sent her a screenshot of my conversation with the director and apologize to her because didn't told her beforehand. She understood it and she apologized as well because acting like that before asking me why I did the changes.

Based on this situation, it is very important to stay calm and listen what the other person has to say before making any judgement that leads to misunderstanding.

Social networking (Facebook, Twitter, etc)
b. Photo sharing (Instagram, Pinterest, etc)
c. Video sharing (Instagram and Tiktok)
d. Interactive media
e. Blogging/ Community Building

Who can do social media?
- Organization (profit or non-profit)
eg: UNICEF
- Individual (artist, musician, actors, singers)

Nowadays, social media also become business platform where entrepreneur promote their products and it's very effective.

Cyberbullying also always happens when we are using social media such as body shaming, 'spilling-tea' culture and spreading hate. This type of behavior always happens among teenagers and also middle age people.
Example of cyberbullying that happen is where Dua Lipa posted a picture with her dad and her caption is 'Happy birthday, babi'. Babi in Albania means dad. Malaysian mocked Dua Lipa calling her dad 'babi' because in Malay 'babi' means pig. Dua Lipa changed the word 'babi' to dad because of Malaysian's bad behavior.

To conclude, social media is a platform where we use daily for certain reason such as communication and entrepreneurship. Social media can connect us to people who live far or close to us and we must use it wisely and avoid unnecessary things happens such as cyberbullying and online burglary.
