One of the reasons I wanted to join was so I could be in the yearbook photo. While it was not the best reason to want to do it, it got me to do a lot more than I normally would. I made a  poster with bright colors and cut out little paper airplanes.  I even made a speech and practiced in front of my family, even though at the time I hated public speaking. At the end I made it into student council and that photo, I think.

How does this relate to the theme?

I spent one week coming up with ideas, I even got my mom and sister to critique it. I then spent another week actually drawing it. It took a lot of trial and error, and a lot of time drawing and coloring, but I eventually finished and submitted it. I got second place and my drawing was on the cover of the back.

Then in the fall of 5th grade I was finally eligible to join.  I spent a few days writing and rewriting everything  in my admission essay. I put a lot of effort into it.
