I don not wish to participate in the DNA testing from the 23andme company because there has been
a lot of controversies according to the recent articles and newsletters from the internet this month.
It is affordable to pay $99 to know your future health conditions and disease just by analyzing the saliva sample.
The benefits of buying this product would let you know how your body is functioning and teach you how much percentages
you have comparing it to the average person's percentage on certain conditions. You could test your DNA to find your ancestors,
or someone with similar DNA genes as you. For a couple, they could get tested for health conditions before they have a child. However,
there are also negatives values. If one is informed with the false analysis on their genes, they would live the rest of their lives with anxiety
of when they are going to die. For others, there has been many complaints of misleading ads and misuse of medical devices within the system.

I would not participate in this DNA testing for several reasons. First of all, the many controversies surrounding privacy issues and accuracy lead me to mistrust the 23andme company. If I am misinformed, I do not trust myself not to overreact, or even if I am given the correct information. I also do not want to spend $99 for the ability to learn about my diseases, when it is possible that I will not learn anything or only one or two things. The lifestyle changes offered can also be reached through common sense or by visiting a doctor. Finally, I have little to no interest in my heritage, mainly because I have been told about it by my parents, and there is no reason for me to go looking for my distant relatives. Now that 23andme only offers this service, along with the raw genetic data, there is no reason for me to have my DNA genetically tested by 23andme.

I would not participate in the DNA testing. Although personalized DNA testing has the potential to provide more efficient, personalized medical care, the current state it is in now is full of inaccuracy and doubt. The information is not exact, and I would not want to end up worrying about false positives of false negatives. Also, I have no interest in finding out about undiscovered relatives. Family is not about blood or DNA: it's about loving and caring for each other. Personally, I would not make much use of my genetic information because information from this company has been deemed inaccurate, and I don't care much about relatives I've never seen before. To me, what I'd get out of the DNA testing would not be worth $99.

I would no want to participate in personal DNA testing. Knowledge is not always power. I believe that personal DNA testing would reveal

too much information about a person, that could be used against them. Also, this test has many flaws and is sometimes misinterpreted. It claims to give you a probability of getting diseases but there are many factor that affect the probability of getting a disease, not only the DNA. The only full proof way to now that you have a disease is from a doctor. 23andMe is also being restricted by the FDA, Foods and Drug Association. With all of these reasons it would not be wise to take this test.
