In the first pages a magic show is described, but one that was made to look like a simple eye trick. This quote impacts the story because it was said at at point in the story where the outcome was unclear and the two main characters are starting to realize their love for eachother but both in denial.  The quote just shows the connection they have while trying to stay away.

This is why she reminds me of Hermione Granger from harry potter. A tough independent young woman who outdoes her peers, is intelligent, mature and very powerful.
Throughout Harry Potter Hermione is known to be the "smart" or "strategic one" we see this especially when in battles. Shes also very smart in classes correcting her peers while getting the lesson immediately. This is how Ceilia is portrayed, a young prodigy. In the beginning we see her pick up moderate skills at the age of 5 and a half, impressing her father. Later in the story we find out how her father treats her to give her a thick skin, making her tough both mentally and physically. From a young age, i've always been different. My mother knew it, she called me little satan. She thought my powers were that of the devil. She sent me away to my father only after taking her own life. My father was just like me, he had powers, he used them to entertain in the Cirque des la reves.  I thought my father would be kinder to me than my mother, i was wrong. He used me like a chess piece in his game with his "friend". I'm not even sure of their relationship. My father trained me from the moment he knew of my abilities, putting me through harsh conditions. Often breaking my bones and making me set them my self, starving me to market me as a medium. I suppose I can't be too mad at him, through all of his harshness he trained me for this battle well. Im almost unstoppable. You inquired me for some advice on your current battle and romance. I am here to tell you that this will be the most challenging quest you've ever been on. 
On one hand it could turn out beautifully and you win both the battle and the girl, however listening to how this "game" goes I don't think that is possible. I think you must choose, the "game" or her, and figure out which you are willing to loose. 
I know this is a hard decision, but I believe you will make the right one. I am always here if you need me, although I'm quite busy with my own romance. That story can wait for another time.
