Malala was born in Mingora, Pakistan in 1997. Her father was a teacher and ran a girls' school in their village. When she was 11, the Taliban took control of their town and enforced many rules and banned many things. Girls were not allowed to go to school anymore. When Malala was 15, she spoke out about how girls have the right to learn and this made her a target. One day, she was on a school bus and a man with a mask and a gun shot her on the left side of her head. 10 days later, she woke up in England and decided she would rather continue fighting until all girls in the world could go to school, instead of staying quiet.

What adversity did this person experience that motivated them to make a difference in the world?

Malala received her motivation from her personal experience of getting restricted from being able to freely go to school. The Taliban banned female education from 1996 to 2001 and Malala was one of the many girls that wanted back their opportunity of going to school at the time. Malala ended up speaking out against the Taliban to make it known that its within the girls rights to be able to go to school. This angered the Taliban and they later went on to a bus where Malala was and shot her in the head because she was a target of assassination, but she survived and continued her fight for young peoples education around the world.

Malala and her father co-founded the Malala Fund in 2013 to raise awareness to the impact of no education for girls and boys and to empower kids to voice their demands for the opportunity of education. The Taliban's attack on Malala was known worldwide, and over two million people in Pakistan signed a right to education petition.

I selected Malala because she is very inspirational and it still blows my mind that she started speaking her concerns when she was just 11 years old. Another very unique thing about her is that she got shot in the head and survived, not to mention, she came back even stronger when she recovered. I was also very impressed at the fact that she is the youngest person to receive a Nobel piece prize and that she is still going forth with her activism even after years, this just comes to show you how driven she is.
