Physical/telephone presence for students with queries regarding tuition fees during the first few weeks as response time to the online form is too long and some students would prefer a face to face option.

PASS sessions

The PASS introduction sessions have gone really well over the last few years. I think we have a good model at the moment, we have had excellent engagement. These have been linking up with the whole cohort sessions in teaching week 1 - focusing on organization and note taking. Not sure I would change anything but then again... It won't be me next year - Michael

PD talks

If possible could the meet the PD sessions be in Yr3 - Yr2 - Yr 1 order? Then I can pass on the advice that I obtain from Yr 3 onto Yr 2 and the advice from Yr 2 onto Yr 1. Dennis (Biotech PD)

We are currently already running events for international students and commuter students in Welcome Week, which are very successful and well-attended, so we should carry on doing them

Canvas Induction

Most if not all courses will be taught in Canvas from Sept 2025. Students will need to know how to access Canvas and find their way around it; where to get help with using Canvas, and (later down the line) practice with submitting assigments and taking exams. I would imagine there will be a UoM-wide or Faculty version of a geenric induction and some guides/training or orientation resources (eLearning Team). May affect handbooks and other sources that point to Bb currently.

Information overload

Information overload during WW is a significant problem. They need short bitesize pieces of information with reference to where they get more information from and/or who to go to. More visual information such as video's etc... as it is easier to retain info and they can be referred to by academics again in sessions after WW
