We have designed a liftor with my team mates. 3 people of my team build the liftor and the other 3 completed the coding. So, we finished the task in less time. While completing the task, we exchanged ideas; so every of us has learnt some thing new.

Our liftor with EV3 works with commands that we coded according challenge. We used utlrasonic sensor and EV3 motor power. The liftor went up and down. This was also visible in the screen of EV3 liftor, it also informed us by saying "up"" and "down" at these moments.

The purpose of this activity is to find practical solutions for the disabled people. Therefore, this activitiy can also be a good motivation for them by involving them in every field, social life llike other people.

This activity attracted my attention because it is a very good challenge to help people. The disabled peoplle shouldn't feel alone. We wanted to show or feel them how we wanted to be always with them thanks to this activity.

In conclusion, I can say that this is really satisfying and it has a lot meaning.
Elif KESKİN - Fatih High School / Turkey

Before starting this activity, our instructor divided us into 2 groups. 3 of us was going to build the Launcher and 3 of us were responsible for the coding.

We used the pieces of EV3 like large Motors, ultrasonic and touch sensorS. After building the projectile launcher basic structure, we had to find a relationship between EV3 motor power and the distance. This relationship incorporated into the EV3 program was used to control the robot. If everything was OK, we could feel ourselves ready to throw the ball with EV3.

Using the EV3 ultrasonic sensors, the projectile launcher detects the distance as regards to the desired target and then calculates the necessary motor power to launch the ball into the correct distance.

When we pressed the touch sensor, the ball entered into the object with a right angle that we planned to do so. This activity was much amazing that I thought before. We used the mathematical calculations because we had to measure the distance correctly.

In conclusion, this activity was very motivating and enjoyable one for me. I regard myself lucky that I had a chance to join the “MET INSIDE STEM CLUB” in our school. I learnt new amazing things by doing such activities. I know that technology is improving day by day, so I have to follow the changes and keep up getting my knowledge deeper. Not but not least, thanks this project my foreign language skill have also improved much and my self confidence has increased. Now, i can express myself better both in English and also in my language. I have learnt different cultures, met new friends from other countries that help us to gain a different point of view the people living overseas.

Elif KESKİN - Fatih High School / TURKEY

Elevator and Moving Band (Escalator)

Last week ; we designed elevator and moving band (escalator). Both of these robots have the same purpose. The elevator and moving band aim to provide convenience to the lives of the disabled ones. In my opinion ; a patient or a disabled person using wheelchair can not use a ladder. The elevator is the most convenient and useful choice for them. The patient using the moving band may be blind. Thinking about it ; we have designed the moving band. A blind person can not see the moving band , the ultrasonic sensor on the moving band detects him/her and starts the mechanism. So, the blind patient will be safely reached to the destination. I think it was a meaningful activity. The robots we have designed will give the idea to the engineers to develop better machines for the disabled people in the future.

Nazike Ulubay / Fatih High School / TURKEY

We have designed Projectile Launcher with my team. We have used 1 ultrasonic sensor, 1 touch sensor and 1 large motor. After creating the launch structure, we needed to derive a relationship between EV3 motor power and the distance to throw the ball into the target. This relationship is then incorporated into an EV3 program used to control the Robot.Having used the ultrasonic sensor, projectile launcher picked up the distance to desired target, and then calculates the necessary motor power to launch the ball the correct distance. To complete this mission accurately, we need to apply mathematicals concepts to calculate results and physics concepts for speed and the quantitative relationship between average speed, distance and time. Finally, we could use this mechanism by establishing this relationship .If you press the touch sensor, large motor will throw tha ball into the distance which the ultrasonic sensor sees. In my opinion, this activity requires mathematical calculation which is very good to develop your mathematical intelligence.

I really wish to express my gratitude to this MET Inside Project. Because I have met new people. I have made friends from different European countries. And I am very pleased with their friendship. Later, I have met their teachers which is a real big chance for me. Although they are from different countries, they are sincere to the people they haven’t met before. I think it is a very nice behaviour. I also have improved myself. My self-confidence has increased. I wish to say ‘’ Thank you!’’ to the Erasmus and my teachers who has given me this chance

Nazike Ulubay / Fatih High School / TURKEY

Hi Guys;
The second meeting of ‘’MET INSIDE’’ Project was in Afyon. Now I will try to give you some brief information about this event. We hosted 5 partner countries from Lithunia, Poland , Spain , Italy and Portugal in our own country, Turkey.
The first day of the meeting was dedicated to visits as historical and culturel visits with the participation of all partners. We introduced and showed the old ruins in Phyrigian Valley with help of our guide.
On the second day of the ‘’MET INSIDE’’ Project, we started to the tasks as regards to our Project. The first one was Robot Puppet Show with EV3.So, what was the importance of this Robot Puppet ?Of course, this activity was an icebreaker.
Robot Puppet said ‘’HELLO!’’ and started to explain our city like a turist guide in five minutes.I even uploaded my own voice to the robot .It was really enjoyable. Then, all the partners visited our school. We showed our robotic room to them. They liked our robotic room very much. After, we also had a bench marking visit to AKU University .Their idea about our city really changed. They saw how we,as Turkey, give big importance into education.
I love my European friends all.I can express myself in English better now.I know something about other cultures. My English is developing day-by-day because I am constantly chatting with friends. I am lucky that ı joined this Erasmus Project.

For the MET INSIDE Project’s 3rd meeting, we went to Poland. We met new people in there. I have made friends from different cultures. They introduced us their historical and cultural places.I learned a lot of information.Another interesting is that,we tried to taste the traditional dishes of different countries. It was really nice. We went to various places belonging to the Polish people's culture. I really were all very pleased. All in all, this excange was really beyond perfect. I spent extremely great time in Poland. Thanks for everything.
Elif Keskin - Fatih High School / TURKEY

Consumable energies are gradually decreasing. If we continue to use this way, one day they will be exhausted. Today we can simply reach the energy sources like electricity and water. But these resources will run out one day in the future and i know that we aren't able to reach these resources easily. So, under the guidance of my teacher we dreamt of a time (year 2100) when the world's valuable energy sources would be exhausted. We asked ourselves “How can we produce our own electricity?” “How can we produce our own food?” While searching answers to these questions, we developed a prototype home that can answer these questions. At home we designed, there are wind panels on the roof of the house. So, the wind panels in the house can produce electricity. We also designed solar panels that can produce electricity for our home. The waste of our house is collected and recycled in a special garbage in our garden. We plan to grow our own vegetables and fruit in the garden of our house .In addition,we worked on the water problem. To deal with this problem,we built a well in our garden. So,we can get portable water from the well. But we know that we have to use a filtering technique to use the water safely. We also have a heat center in our garden. So, we will be ready for winter to easily heat our house.

In conclusion,we have developed our own energy-producing house using natural resources. With this activity, we have seen the importance of energy, how to save the energy without wasting and how much energy we can save with a few basic systems we designed.

Yağmur BAĞKARAN /Fatih High School / TURKEY

¾ of our world is covered with water including oceans, seas, lakes etc. But “How much of this blue beauty can be clean?” According to our research, 5,25 trillion plastic pollutes our oceans. Many of the creatures in the sea die of these plastics. Last week, I and my friends from MET Inside STEM Club, asked each other and try to find the best way to solve this big problem. We made a brainstorm with my team to find possible solutions. Firstly, we thought that if we separated our garbage and collect the recycable waste for recycling, it would be much better for both our environment and our resources. We thought about how we could save the ocean from this garbage. So, we developed a prototype considering this problems. This prototype consisted of 2 parts. Then, we developed a device that has never existed in the history of humanity to clean the surface of the sea. And then, we designed the other one to clean the bottom of the sea. We connected the part we developed for the surface into the ship we built and left it to the sea. In this way, the surface waste could be cleaned. We think that we can clean the sea with this pieces without damaging the natural life in the sea. But we are not sure whether the devices we developed can clean the bottom of the sea? Or not? This pieces can be connected to a ship and it can be sent to the bottom of the sea. So they are able to clean the bottom of the sea. Thanks to this method, living creatures at the bottom of the sea can’t be harmed. In conclusion, the last idea we reached with my team is cleaning the surface of the sea can be possible without damaging the marine life. But anyway, we couldn’t find a definite solution for clean the bottom of the sea.

With this activity, we have seen how the problem is big for the oceans! We have understood that how important to dump our garbage in the trash.

We hope that this environmental pollution problem will be solved before it grows.

Yağmur BAĞKARAN / Fatih High School / TURKEY

We represended 4 videos the first one was "The house of Mother Nature" the second was "Save the Marine Life" the third one was "EV3 pianist" and the last one was "EV3 launcher". The presentation was really easy to perform bucuse all we had to do was just to turn on videos on youtube. Everything went really smoothly and there was no problems or challganges for us. We were rally satisfied with our result because everything went quite well and our videos were really great quality. The next time i wouldint do anything diffrently, bucuse we worked really hard at home, and we were ready for everything that we had to do. We were really confident in ourselves when we represended our work.

Tautvydas Lukoševičius, Šiauliai Stasys Šalkauskis gymnasium, Lithuania.

The task was to make a machine that would pick up the trash from the ochean without killing the marine life. The task wasn't very hard to do becouse we found a lot of information and had IT afterclass everyday and our teacher was a great help. When all of the information was gathered up we processed the best information and with it we made the model. But making the model wasn't that easy, becouse of our poor time managment. We eatch had diffrent things to do and it was really difficult for all of us to gather up at the same time. We mostly met after school for an hour or two so we could make the project. I was kinda satisfied with the work I did, becouse I gave all of my best to create it. Ithink..... next time I would try to manage my wrok more efficiently.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gfK1sq5EglA

Vilius Malmiga, Siauliai Stasys Salkauskis gymnasium, Lithuania

Few months ago we had task to build EV3 robots that could perform by completing Space Challenges. Some of the challenges was easy to complete but of course it was few that we struggled with. We had problems with space challenge number 07 because of the lack of mindstorm EV3 power. It wasn't hitting the right place strongly enough to fire rocket to the moon. This problem was solved by attaching heavy tires to the front of robot so it could hit the button powerfully. We were feeling satisfied about our results because every challenge was completed. Next time when we would have to do something similar to this challenge I'll help my team more and I'll try to solve problems in smarter way.

Edvinas Ezerskis / Stasys Salkauskis gymnasium / Siauliai

Two months ago we were doing LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3 space challenges. It was realy fun but also quite difficult because we had some problems with 7th mission. For example big program or weak motor. But we solved it! We solved weak motor problem because our team constructed 2 heavy wheels in front of the robot and we made program correctly. After missions we were satisfied our job because it took lot of time , we solved faced problems and it was very intresting and fun. Next time in similar situations we should be more serious and we should focus only to our task.

Gytis Uzkuraitis,
Siauliai Stasys Salkauskis gymnasium, Lithuania

The task was to build renewable energy sources from LEGO MINDSTOMS education EV3 Renewable Energy Add-on Set. The construction was rather simple as the instructions were very clear and easy to understand. The biggest problem was charging the battery on the wind energy set since it had to be done by hand. Later I built a gearbox on one of the wind energy sets to make this task easier and speed up the process. I had fun building these sets and they turned out as I expected so I’m satisfied with this challenge. I don’t think that I would do anything differently except maybe make an even better way to spin the motor on the wind energy kit.
Modestas Stravinskas / Šiauliai Stasys Šalkauskis gymnasium / Lithuania

So, we were doing LEGO MINDSTORM EV3 space challenges a while back. It was interesting, fun and kind of difficult. The programing part was the most difficult for me because you don’t really have a program in your head if you make the program and you test it that program can be wrong and then you start all over again and you are trying to find the mistake or you are trying to change something. The 2nd mission was causing the most problems we couldn’t get the Lego man to stay hanging, but after some time we solved it we built some kind of hook that worked. We were satisfied just because it took a lot of time to do everything. Next time we should do everything more carefully because we were doing some small mistakes in your program and other works.

Mikas Montvilas

Siauliai Stasys Salkauskis gymnasium, Lithuania

So, our project started in Afyon which is really big compared to our cities. First day on Afyon we went on sightseeing trip and it was really cool. On the same day I have tasted some delicious Turkish food. On the upcoming days we did really interesting activities in the morning. Where we needed to make a lot of different programs for robots. For example we needed to write a short guide about our country and then record it. After that we needed to upload it to the robot we had and make him talk. It was really fun working in Afyon, because I learned a lot of new stuff and got a lot of experience in programming.

Mantas Šornelis,
Siauliai Stasys Salkauskis gymnasium, Lithuania

Our task was to create a lightning array of LEDS, controlled by buttons. This task wasn't difficult. At the same time we were doing a "Smart home system" project.
The most difficult part of the "Smart home system" was researching all the sensors we had and writing all the code. The first problem of researching how the sensors work, we had to go trough allot of documentation and "github" examples.
But the code writing part was easier, we wrote it in one day but refined it in five days. We were really satisfied with our project, we now could measure room's temperature, humidity and CO2 concentration. This project helped me to understand a new programming language and learn new skills like soldering.

Vakaris Toleikis,
Siauliai Stasys Salkauskis gymnasium, Lithuania

A couple months ago we were assigned to complete space challenge. This task was very fun, but in the same time it was difficult. We worked as a team and we finished the biggest part of the challenge. In some missions we didnt execute the lego robots programming, we tried our best, but we haven't finished it fully. In this challenge we learned to communicate, how important is to work as a team and the commitment for a project activities. Next time we should do everything more consistently, because some missions caused some problems in programming, but im happy with our achievements. This challenge gave us a lesson, that small things can change a big subjects, so everything should be done by doing it slowly and correct, not fast and wrong.

Aivaras Jocas,
Šiauliai Stasys Šalkauskis gymnasium, Lithuania

So task that was given to me was to make something impersive like lightning an array of LEDs but that seemed boring to me.So we made a "Smart home system".At first it looked easy, we just looked up what we need (Parts) and we once we got them we realised that its not that easy...The parts that we got we realy high-end like wi-fi chips were so good that we havent figured out how they work till this day.So the biggest problem was that we were to "green" at first.
The biggest challenge was to understand how to connect code with the information we are reciving from the sensors.I was satisfied with what we have done but i think we still need to polish the project a bit.For the next time i think we should try to design the case for the project by ourself's using AutoCad and 3D printer.

Eimantas Toleikis
Šiauliai, Stasys Šalkauskis Gymnasium, Lithuania

A couple of months ago we had a task: The tallest building and earthquake imitation with EV3. This task was very interesting and fun because we worked in groups. We thought how to build the tallest and most interesting tower from sticks and marshmallows. There was a problem that the higher you build the more it flips to the side, so we decided to make the tower base as strong as possible so that the entire tower would be stable. I am pleased about my work, becouse in this group we had a really great time, all work was done on time and made everything we could.

Eva Simutytė
Siauliai Stasys Salkauskis gymnasium, Lithuania

LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3: Gyro sensor; color sensor, ultrasonic sensor

My task was to find information about EV3 gyro sensor; colour sensor, ultrasonic sensor. It wasn’t difficult because there was a lot of information in manual book and internet. I think the hardest challenge was to programme these sensors. For example, the gyro sensor detects rotational motion in the plane indicated by the arrows on the top of the sensor housing. The sensor measures the rate of rotation in degrees per second and keeps track of the total angle of rotation in degrees. The colour sensor has three different modes: colour, reflected light intensity, and ambient light intensity. The ultrasonic sensor measures distance to an object up to a maximum of 255cm away. It does this by sending out high frequency sound waves that bounce off any object in range, and measuring how long it takes the sound to return to the sensor. In the software, you can select whether the distance is given in centimetres or inches. I am satisfied with results because it was pretty easy to find information about it.

Paulius Ruibys,
Šiauliai Stasys Šalkauskis gymnasium, Lithuania

This task was a little bit difficult to make because it took a lot of time to make our house and we wanted to make it perfect. Also, it was difficult because we do not have all equipment, but our technology teacher helped us out. So, our biggest challenge was to find all equipment we need. With the final result I was really satisfied because our house was really nice and small and we enjoyed making it. Next time the house I would do the same because I really enjoyed the result of our house.

Jomantė Vilčiauskaitė,
Šiauliai Stasys Šalkauskis gymnasium,
Lithuania

Being abroad, studying something different or in a different way is something I will never ever forget. The people I met and the places I have seen that week is spectacular. The friendship between the project members is something amazing, because I learn about language, culture, religion. It is also a wonderful thing to know that I have friends beyond the borders of my country. After arriving home from my journey, I understood that I have much more experience than I had before I left. During the project at Afoyn, I learned how to do the Space Challenge, practiced with Lego robots and with Arduino.
Aistė Grišiūtė/ Šiauliai Stasys Šalkauskis gymnasium/ Lithuania

                       My blog
I gone write a blog about this year in a steam project. I asked some question and a few friends answer it. What activity they liked the most and why? What are the advantages of participate in this project? If they hadn't had a chanche to participate in this project what wouldn't they have learnt? What thet think about this project. So Eimantas said what he liked the space challange, he learned programing, english and social skills and he thinks what this project is really fun and interesting. Gytis said that he liked also the space challange because it was something new, he got a lot of new experience, he wouldn't learn' to make a program for ev3 and arduino if he hadn't had a chance to participate in this project. He thinks steam is interesting and really fun. Vakaris said what he liked learning new thing with arduino2, he go a lot of experience, if he hadn't had a chance to participate in this project he wouldn't learnt how to create programs with ev3 and he thinks, that this project is amazing. Aiste sayed that she liked to do also space challang and she thinks that this project is really wonderfull. I really liked how to build a tower that withstands the earthquake, because it was really interesting to me, the advantages i think is that you can get a new english skills, and got a lot of new experience. And i think that this project is wonderfull and really interesting.
Martynas
Šiauliai Stasys Šalkauskis gymnasium
Lithuania

We were introduced to make a robot pianist, which should be able to play a piano and at first the task looked really difficult, because we were supposed to build the robot, program it, and obviously get a piano for our robot to play. But we made our own version of the robot more like a drummer, than a pianist. It was just beating a hard surface with programmed rhythm that is synced with a melody that was uploaded to the robot. It turned out just as we expected, and we were satisfied with our upgraded version of the robot. If we would get this task again, I would instantly think outside the box, so that our team's ideas come out freely.
